Timing (of these engines going up for sale) is everything. This is a great deal for someone who has just blown their motor. Bump!

I am quite interested in this as I have a blown engine in the marauder I just picked up on the cheap. I live about 5 hours away......

So everything ran fine before it was removed? how long has it been sitting?

I bought the engine already removed from the car as a spare. The guy I bought it from was driving it when he was hit. He parted the rest of the car and kept the engine. I personally have not heard it run. I will hot wire the starter and take a compression test for anyone who is truly interested. It has been sitting for about a year.

I am very interested, as in drive up there over the long weekend and buy it. Does the engine turn freely? If you could hotwire the starter and get a compression test for me it will definitely be worth your time.

Thanks guys, I love helping out fellow enthusiasts. The engine is going to a newer member here, gonna save one from the grave! I'll let him post if he wishes as to who it is and what all we are going to do.

Hello everyone,

I am a new member here and a proud owner of a 2003 silver birch mercury marauder (finally!).I bought the car for a pretty good price knowing it had engine troubles and when Chris posted the engine he had for sale I had to jump on it.

He was kind enough to run a compression test on the motor and do as much as he could to make sure the motor was going to be in proper working order. He also offered to help me install it at his shop in exchange for my old engine and some minor labor costs :D

As soon as I get a truck and trailer lined up and our schedules both permit, we are going to yank out the old one and swap in the newer engine.

I was hoping to get it done this weekend, but last minute plans always run into snags :shake:; needless to say I can't wait to get it up and running and learn a lot in the process.

Once again I can't thank Chris enough for all the help he has given me so far, and for his generous offer of installing it.

In addition to getting the thing up and running again, it sounds like it won't be long before I start spending money on some modifications :coolman: (4.10s, tune, etc.)
