Driver's mirror loose

My driver's mirror assembly is loose. When I shut the door and even from the wind it moves back about an inch. Before I go and destroy something is there an easy fix or is the mirror toast???

I am not sure if you can replace the mirror only.... unfortunately. I think I remember a thread about this a while ago where someone wanted to replace the mirror only and it was a hassle.

I'd like to know this as well L.Mark, looking at the parts list I found this info:

8 Cover, Mirror (P)

R YW7Z 17D42 DA
L YW7Z 17D43 DA

(P) = Paint to match

Unfortunately, I don't have the shop manual handy, so I can't tell how the mirror covers come off! :confused:

They are a separate peice, but that doesn't mean you'll be able to get it off intact. Tried it on other ford parts before and had a few choice words...:mad2::mad2::mad2:...a ll the more reason to ask someone who knows...:cool:

Remove the mirror glass by pushing the inside edge all the way inward til it stops and the gently but firmly pull the outer edge and the mirror glass will pop off the base. Look inside the mirror housing and you will some tabs at the bottom...depress while pushing outward and that will remove the mirror cover
