View Full Version : What is it like driving a roots-type supercharged Marauder?

What is it like driving a roots-type supercharged Marauder vs a NA one with the typical mods like my signature? I realize that most of the supercharged cars have a lot of the same mods. It seems like there is at least 75-100hp/tq difference. For right now, driving my car is VERY satisfying. I love the way it drives. BUT, I have always wanted a roots-type blower on one of my daily drivers before I die, lol (a bucket list thing) and it seems like the Marauder is the perfect candidate. I missed out once and I didn't do it on my 1991 Mark 7 LSC SE when I had the chance. However, it still managed to make it on the front cover on Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords! :P:P I don't want to make the same mistake again.:shake:

Difference is, "the way it is" compared to "the way it should be". Yea, that sums it up..

I'm afraid I can't help you with your initial question, but you made the cover of MMFF? More details on that car please!

^^^^^ What he said.
Much more low end punch, which is where I really enjoy it.
I don't like going fast, but I do enjoy getting up to speed real quick, and that's what a roots blower will do for you.

On the other hand, I REALLY enjoy going 0-75 quickly...:burnout:

The out of the hole punch is truly amazing. I have a hard time not leaving 11's on the pavement at every light!

You don't need to use the played out car horn. Just light em up to get peoples attention.
Come to think of it, very few cars do burnouts anymore. Plenty of horsepower around here now. Traction control? Prozac?
Anyway, works every time.

like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7anUZwdW5Kg (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7anUZwdW5Kg), calm when you want, fast when you want, feels like it should have been made this way.

I am S/C and using a 0-60 calculator off my Timeslip = 3.26.
I crossed checked and it appears to be accurate.

I ran both setups and either way you wouldn't be disappointed. First I had DR set up in NOVI 1200 air to air kit. The car pulled hard especially on the top end. After seeing DOOM run his car and it's out of hole power I decided to try the roots kit. I absolutely love the decision I made.

Thanks for all the posts! Cobra25, I just might have to do that! Could be dangerous, though;). Might have to bust out the checkbook and start buying Eaton swap stuff! :D

I believe it was in the fall of 2002 @ the Luxobarge Shootout in NJ. Black 1991 Mark VII LSE SE. Lots of bolt on mods and a 3.73 locking rear. It was NOT the feature car in the mag but made the corner of the cover doing an awesome burnout with 3 guys standing with their backs to the camera. Their shirts said "Your Honda Sucks". The car showed up again in the Luxobarge Shootout article. I wanted to Kenne Bell that car so bad, but by the time I got around to it, the mileage had crept higher than I was comfortable. It was my DD.
