Lets see of anyone can get this one this time...

Door lock switches work fine with key out of ignition. Turn key and they unlock and will not lock. Put car in reverse or drive and car will lock on its own.

Any idea why it will not function in park (with key in ignition) or why it will function fine without key in ignition?

Dom push "Green Onion" on a "Trailer" and bring it to Marauderville. By the end of the weekend I'll bet we'll have it where you can "Drive It" back on the trailer and take it home. But serially "Great Marauder minds" will be there somebody know how to fix it.

note: if you're sitting in the driver's seat with your driver door open and keys in the ignition(and maybe even out of) it will not lock. It's a safety feature that prevents you from locking the keys in the car.

If it isn't wanting to let you lock the doors when the driver's door is closed then the car thinks the door is open. Is the dome light on when this is happening?

It's only malfunctioning when the key is in the on position. I shift it into R or D, the car locks and I can use the switch again.

Starting the car and keeping it in P will make the switch useless. Upon startup the doors unlock and will not lock unless I put it in gear.

I usually start the car and quickly put it in reverse to get the doors locked and back to park to warm of or play with my radio.
