so heres the deal, my mm was is an accident about 2 years ago, and in the process, a wheel had to be replaced. about a month ago, i was washing my car and seen that the wheel that was replaced, that the clearcoat was bubbling up and chipping away....:mad2:. i went back to the body shop that worked on it, and they agreed that it needed to be replaced. the company they got it from then agreed to replace it and sent another wheel to the body shop to swap out. upon looking at the wheel(before the tire was mounted to it), i noticed that it was not shiney and mirror like, more of a finely brushed aluminum. i told the body shop the issue and they immediatly called the wheel place while i was there. the wheel place says "oh, im sorry, we originally replaced it with a replica, and we sent a reconditioned wheel to replace it, sorry. it shows that we have 1 replica in stock, and we will have it shipped there tomorrow." so i leave, and i come back the next day to inspect it to make sure its right, well...:mad2:. the wheel they had in stock was previously painted when they opened the package up before shipping it, so they never shipped it, however the wheel shop said that they are going to order me a brand new replica and have it shipped directly to the body shop and that it will be there the next day. so i show up the next day and BAM! i see the same wheel sitting there from the original shipment, or so i thought..... i talk to the body shop thinking the new wheel hasn't arrived yet and to my dismay i hear "yeah steve(<thats me), they had the brand new replica wheel shipped, and it looks the same as the original wheel they sent us, i dont know what else to tell you" so i ask if they could contact the wheel shop the next day and try to figure out whats going to happen. well, i gave the body shop 2 days to call, and they did, however the wheel company doesnt have any other wheels, and doesnt know what they can do.
for comparison, oem polished aluminum wheel are literally like mirrors, you could shave in the reflection if you wanted. the wheels they were sending, you could see a silhouette, but no details, like i couldnt see my eyes...just blobs.
this is where you guys come in! i need a OEM replacement POLISHED ALUMINUM wheel. im going to call the wheel shop tomorrow and explain to them the issue about the wheel, and i will ask them if i can get an oem replacement wheel from here, if i could get my money back for what its going to cost me.
any thoughts, offers, advice, would be greatly appreciated. i know that this company was selling one of these wheels for $268......anybody willing to sell one wheel for that? pm me if needed.
