I've searched, but haven't figured it out yet.

The Marauder just turned over 40K miles and the driver side door lock stopped working. It actually works once in a while, but it's gone from acting up a little to acting up a lot. I pulled the door panel and inspected the linkage to find everything "bind free."

I found a reference to the driver side door module? I assume that is the black box that was under the door panel....could this be causing the issue?

I'm hoping to avoid changing the actual motor that locks/unlocks the door because it appears to be riveted into the door and my door is minty and the thought of drilling it out makes my stomach turn.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Don't have to drill anything.

Push out the center pin, snap off the three ears. Replace motor, use 1/4 20 bolt, washer and locktite in place of rivet.

Same thing for the front passenger door lock motor? Mine stopped working last year.

All the same. You might be able to remove the old lock from the bracket and slip the new one in.

Mine acted the same way, I removed the door lock switch, sprayed it with electrical contact cleaner, (I really soaked it down) replaced it, works great now. Mine would work every other way but the master switch though. The key fob, and buttons 7/8, 9/10.

Thanks guys. The driver door lock was acting up for a while, but when the driver side window stopped working is when I took a peek. I popped the rocker switches off and disassembled the switches down to the contacts. Then cleaned the contacts with a little piece of 500 grit and electrical cleaner. Window works like a charm, door not so much. The switch is working all the other doors in the lock/unlock position though, so I figure it has to be the motor.

I'm just unsure as to weather it could be that module in the door, or the actual motor. Hell my 89 t-bird still has original door locks and they work just fine (and much quicker).

Since you are heading to replace the motor anyway, I would first spray some lock-ease or WD-40 on it. Maybe flush-out some corrosion or carbon build up.

Well, before pulling it, I might try to send 12 volts directly to the terminals. If the motor responds well, then I'll know it's something else like that black box. My gut tells me something else is probably the culprit as I've never seen a door lock motor/actuator ever go bad, regardless of age or miles.

They go bad all the time for different reasons.

Don't know about Panthers but I've replaced 3 of them on 2 F150s. They get week & no longer move the mechanism.

The part has been redesigned at least 3 times (Ford parts dude looking it up for me was counting the number of PN changes).
