(MercuryMarauder.NET Newsline: 25 March 2005; 1535) The City of Chicago has granted the International Mercury Owners Association (IMOA) permission to hold the first annual "Chi-Town Kruze" on either September 25, 2005 or October 2, 2005; depending on the Chicago Bears schedule for the 2005-2006 season. Similar to the popular Woodward Dream Cruise, held annually in Detroit in mid-August, the Chi-Town Kruze will have space for more than 1,500 cars as it wends its way from Lincoln Park, down South Lake Shore Drive to Soldier Field's parking lot, where a massive car show of 750 cars will be held.

Several preliminary car shows will be held in the Chicagoland area, generating interest in the Kruze within the enthusiast community. Car owners are encouraged to participate and obtain their registration materials at these shows as they become available.

Cars of all shapes, sizes and vintages are welcomed.

Sponsors are being sought, and the nonprofit corporation established by Jerry Robbin of IMOA is seeking volunteers.

More news to come (as I learn it). "Watch this space."

(Logan: Can we make this news its own "event" and give it its own forum??)

Is joining the IMOA free, or do you have to pay?

Well, Napoleon, you obviously aren't aware that Illya Kuryakin has been kidnapped and replaced with a facsimile "Ilya Kuriyakam"! Mr. Waverly will be very upset!!

Seriously - tailgating probably, but it's to be held on a weekend when 'Da Bears' are NOT playing.

You gotta pay, but it's pretty cheap, you get a magazine periodically (pun intended) and it ends up supporting a lot of stuff that will be at Marauderville II at Indianapolis in late July, where we share the stage with IMOA. Look here: http://www.mercuryclub.com/NJoin.html
