Is there a non - digital AC controller that can be easily substituted for the factory OEM. one? Has anyone done this? If yes what is involved? I want this unreliable piece of garbage gone!!!

Mine worked great for 9 years and 140K. Try FastBlackMerc.

What is the problem with it? Other then changing the o-rings they seem to be pretty good.

Once you replace the o-rings the EATC is pretty reliable. One other problem is the lights may burn out, but that's an easy relatively cheap fix also.

If your experiencing blower motor or temperature issues they are not related to the EATC.

Tell us what issues you are experiencing.

BTW...... I can fix the o-ring and lights issues.

The ac controller is a piece of junk

Was the replacement from Ford or someone the "repairs" them on eBay?

I have worked on close to one hundred EATCs and never had any with the the problems you describe.

Sounds like you've had some bad luck. I haven't heard of your problems being common. There are some other well known and easily fixed issues, O-rings as mentioned.

The easiest and cheapest thing for you to do is put in a good EATC with silicone O-rings. This should keep you reliable from the controller end, until your blower motor and blend door go out. :)

Frankensteining in another HVAC controller is not likely to be less problematic than solving your EATC problems. But if you want to try it out, let us know how it goes!

Going to a manual HVAC system is time consuming and costly.

Even though you got a new EATC, you will eventually have to replace the o-rings as Ford still uses non silicone o-rings.

You'll probably have to replace the BCM (Blower Control Module).

You might have to replace the blend door motor.

Parts are cheap... labor not so......

Place it on Auto and the fan will adjust itself......the readout fading is probably the dimmer rheostat making the dash lights get brighter and less bright.....common problem!!
