For what it is worth. Having a laundry list of problems with my 1999 Ford Ranger. Including 1880 dollar transmission rebuild. Still awful. So... based on a suggestion from a exhaust guy. I replaced the MAF (already cleaned it) and can say there is a correlation between the two. It shifts better and more timely.
Just sayin.

I inherited a 99 Ranger (3.0l V-6, 5 speed manual) from my son. If you have a rebuilt automatic tranny and a new MAF it should run like new.
I just flushed the cooling system, replaced the thermostat, new plugs, new coolant cap, new headlights (HIDs), cleaned MAF and IAC, replaced PCV, oil change, replaced battery cable ends and replaced some vacuum hoses. Need to replace fuel filter, some instrument cluster bulbs, speakers (replacing with old Marauder speakers and need to drop fuel tank to see why it runs out of gas when gauge still shows 1/4 tank.
Good hauling truck.

Also ended up with 3 inch exhaust with a flowmaster muffler welded right behind a rusty Catalytic converter. Sounds like a big boy.
