Motor City Marauders - Regional Event
Open Track Sessions at Michigan International Speedway
Saturday, July 3, 2004
Event Hosted by SAAC (Shelby American Automobile Club)

Michigan International Speedway
12626 U.S. 12
Brooklyn, MI 49230
MIS is located in the triangle created by U.S. 12, M-50, & Brooklyn roads.
This event is part of the National meet for the Shelby American Automobile Club. The part of this event that we are looking at participating in is the Open Track Sessions at MIS. The Open Track uses part of the high speed oval, and the infield road course to give us a 2.4 mile course to drive on. This is the real deal....no 15 mph passes here...you drive as fast as your skills, nerve and abilities will allow you! Your car must pass a stringent tech inspection, open track instructional class (30 min), and attend the driver’s meeting (30 min). Your vehicle and experience level will place you in a group that will run together in two open track sessions. I have spoken with Jeff Burgy of SAAC, and he indicated that they would allow all of our Marauders run the track as our own group if we have enough register! Can you picture that....a dozen Marauders tearing up the track at MIS!!!
This sounds like a blast, and is open to ANY Ford powered vehicle. Their website where you will find all the information and entry form is:

SAAC Main Website (http://WWW.SAAC.COM)

Event Site (http://WWW.saac.com/eventsAndConventions/saac29.html)

Open Track Q&A Information (http://WWW.saac.com/eventsAndConventions/opentrackinfo.html)

Registration Form (http://WWW.saac.com/eventsAndConventions/saac29-reg.html)

Please read all the information and requirements. Print off the registration form, and get it mailed off ASAP so we can get our own group. We are registering our group for the “Saturday AM” session under the MICHIGAN INTERNATIONAL OPEN TRACK area on the registration form. The costs break down like this:
Pre-registration..........$25
Open track cost.........$100
1 yr. membership........$47

Grand total for finding your top end on MIS.....$172.

The one year membership is required to participate in the Open Track event, but allows us access to other SAAC shows and events. So far, there are three Motor City Marauders going from Michigan, and are looking for a few more to make this an unforgettable day! This promises to be the most challenging event for the Marauder to date. If you plan on attending and running your Marauder at MIS, please notify me, we are going to prepare Dash Plaques to commemorate this Marauder event! If you want to attend as a spectator, the cost is $25. Contact me if you want to hitch a ride with one of us going, we really would like someone to video tape the runs. This and every other Motor City Marauder Event is open to any and all Marauders.
If anyone has any questions, please Email me at mi2qwk4u@comcast.net .

Yet another great event Dave!

Although I'll support the event to my best ability, I won't actually be able to make thi one unfortunately. I'm sure you'll get a great turnout for this one. Having a chance to run the top end at MIS is pretty awesome.

I"m still speechless! If you have never had the opportunity to enjoy an event like this you need to try it. It was a spectacular sun filled blue sky day at Michigan International Speedway, plenty of Shelby Mustangs, Boss Mustangs, Mach I's a new 2005 Mustang GT, several GT40 replicas and there were probably 3 to 4 new Ford GT's at the event. Given all of that the Marauders' still gained a great deal of attention. We couldn't have asked for a better day or track conditions, even with the limitations imposed on the track for no passing on the road course portion it was a great time. No speed limits were imposed, just drive at your comfort level(I'm not telling, only to say there is not a speed limiter on my car  ). This definitely will not be the last event of this type my 04' DTR will see. Have a great 4th everyone!!!!

Video will be available soon, stay tuned! Sadly the camera I was using couldn't seem to get the audio working with it, I'll have to work on that for the next time. In any event the video should be great.

These are on the road course section of the track at Michigan International Speedway. The Big Merc was a handfull in the road course, but ran up around 150+ on the Oval Speedway section! This is by far the most fun I have had at a Marauder event...
