Event Hosted by Fun Ford Events

Motor City Marauders Host Hotel

After talking with Fun Ford Weekend, we are happy to announce FFW hosting Motor City Marauders at the Norwalk event! They are as excited hosting us as we are participating with them.

A block of 13 rooms has been reserved in the name of the Motor City Marauders for Friday and Saturday nights, the code you must give them when reserving your room is “MOTO”. The cutoff date for them holding the block of rooms is June 25, 2004, after that date the unused rooms revert back to the hotel to use. Just so you are aware, we took the last 13 rooms in the hotel for that weekend. A check of other hotels turned up the same thing, sold out, so don’t wait too long! They are not giving us a break on the room for reserving a block of rooms due to the fact it is one of their busiest weekends of the year with Fun Ford being there. However, they will honor the following discounts; Government/Military get 15% off, AAA members get 10% off, and AARP members get 10% off. All of the rooms reserved are Double bed rooms, it was all they had left. The cost for the double bed rooms is $109 per night. You will need to call yourself, reserve your room on your credit card, indicate smoking or not (limited amount of smoking rooms), and indicate if you want to stay more nights beyond Friday and Saturday.

The Fun Ford guys were very excited at our interest to join them again and can’t wait to put up the Marauder Corral again! We are still working out the details, but they pledge to make this another event to remember. This event is sponsored by the Motor City Marauders and will is open to Marauders from across the country. Please Email me if you have any questions.... mi2qwk4u@comcast.net . If you plan on attending, please notify me, we are preparing Dash Plaques for members that attend this event, and will need an accurate head count. As we talked about before, Dave, I'm gonna make this event too!

Norwalk is an awesome track. I've been there before, but have never had a chance to run the track myself. I'll block these dates off in my calender and reserve a room asap.

Nice organization Dave.....well done!

We're coming. Problem is that I am not familiar with Norwalks itinerary, and I desperatly need a test and tune to get my dial in straightened out with this new setup.

Looks like rain tomorrow, so Dragway42 will close, and wednesday I have to watch the boy, so Norwalk is out.

DRIVER'S MEETING
A mandatory driver's meeting will be held in the True Street Impound Area prior to the cruise.

PROCEDURES:

TECH PROCEDURE
All participating vehicles will be required to pass a track safety and credentials inspection. True Street participants will park in a designated True Street Impound Area for the tech inspection. No support vehicles, campers, trailers or non True Street participation vehicles will be permitted in this area. After the inspection, it is advised that vehicles remain in this area. All participants in the True Street competition will leave on the road cruise from this designated area. Any competitor (car and/or driver) not in the designated area, for any reason, when the road cruise begins, will be disqualified.

ROAD CRUISE PROCEDURE
The road cruise is limited to vehicles that have passed the tech inspection.

Police escort will be provided. From the time the participants leave the drag strip facility until they return, the police escorts will be in control of the cruise, including the cruise distance. All participants must obey all traffic laws. Recklessness, burnouts, speeding, etc. will not be tolerated and may be grounds for disqualification. Police may issue traffic citations for illegal driving or behavior.

Passengers permitted during road cruise (see UPHOLSTERY). Any support vehicles (i.e. tow vehicles, etc.) are permitted on the road cruise provided they remain behind the True Street participants at all times.

Any vehicle unable to complete the road cruise under it's own power, in the time frame allotted, will be disqualified from further competition. It will not be the responsibility of FFW to find or tow any participant that may suffer a break down during the cruise. It is advised that participants carry a cell phone in order to make arrangements for any required towing.

RETURN / COOL DOWN PROCEDURE
All vehicles will return from the road cruise and assume the same general position in the True Street pit area.

The cool down period will be not less than 30 minutes and will typically be more. Opening the hood for any reason is prohibited and grounds for immediate disqualification. Engines must remain turned off during the cool down period. Repairs or adjustments performed through the hood, scoop or cowl or from underneath the vehicle are prohibited.

Opening the trunk or hatch is permitted for access to nitrous bottles or intercoolers only.

COMPETITION PROCEDURE
When called to the lanes, all trunk or deck lids must be secured until completion of all three passes. In some cases, due to weather or other circumstances, FFW officials may restrict the drag strip runs to only two passes. Driver's only permitted in staging lanes. Crewmembers are not permitted around vehicles at any time in the staging lanes or between rounds of competition, and must remain in the grandstand area (see PARACHUTE). Crewmembers not permitted in the burnout or starting line area. Failure to adhere to the above regulations are grounds for immediate disqualification.

Tire pressure may be checked by the driver in the lanes between rounds. Tire pressure may be lowered, however air may not be added to the tires at any time during the competition.

All vehicles are required to make three (or less, at the discretion of FFW officials) full passes in order to be included in the final computations. All vehicles must run all passes in basically the same running order. Any vehicle holding back or adjusting their run order to gain additional cool down time between rounds will be disqualified. Stopping in the pit area or return road for any reason between rounds is prohibited (see PARACHUTE).

FINAL STANDINGS PROCEDURE
After the passes are completed, the elapsed times will be added up and divided by the number of rounds of competition and an average ET for each competitor will be computed. The results for all qualified participants will be posted at the Fun Ford Weekend trailer the following morning (Sunday) and the Award Ceremony time will be announced. All results will be made by the FFW officials whose decisions will be final.

TRUE STREET BRACKET RACE COMPETITION
At most events, True Street participants will be eligible to enter the True Street Bracket competition on Sunday. This will be for True Street competitors only and will run on a .500 Full Tree, using a dial-in with breakout. Time trials will be provided on Sunday prior to eliminations for contestants to make dial-in test runs. Dial-ins will be the responsibility of the participants. All rules for True Street vehicles will be in effect for this competition. No tire or other changes will be permitted.

The only thing that'll be happening on Friday is Time Trials. They'll be calling that by class, and I'm pretty sure True Street will have their turn. You'll be able to register as late as Saturday am for TS. Just leave enough time planned for registration and tech inspection.

I'll be hitting the road sometime on Friday morning (hopefully with Dave) and hope to get there by early afternoon at the latest. Enough time to come in, relax, and make a pass or two.

I'm gonna run True Street for sure on Sat. Then depending on how things go I'll stay for Sunday's TS Brackets, or perhaps the car show.

We should probably exchange cell numbers.

Hey guys,

I'll definitely be going to Norwalk on Saturday. I have to work through the whole weekend unfortunately, so I'll be calling in sick on Saturday to attend...(cough, cough) I plan on getting there around 8 or 9am Saturday morning. I'm not sure I'll race though seeing as how my best time was a 15.1 bone stock, no mods. But I'll definitely park with you, hang out, bring food, videotape, and help in any way. You all met my dad at the Trilogy open house, so now it's time I met you guys. If anyone needs to get a hold of me for any reason, I'll PM them my phone number upon request. I live local, and will be bringing a big cooler, chairs, etc. So if you guys need anything...floor jack, jack stands, race fuel or something, let me know and I can bring anything you need. Talk to you all soon!
