How's it goin? So i am in the market for new rear tires. I am currently running OEM fronts that are in good shape but my rears are worn bad in the middle and then today i hit a curb going maybe 5mph and it ripped a chuck out of my rear passenger tire's sidewall. I wanted to get some feedback to see whats out there these days to run on the rear for a DD. Would Nitto Motivo's work well here? and if so which size is best. i am currently running 255/55's on in the back.

I will have new Cooper rs3-a (245/55/18) rears put on my MM next Friday. Was thinking of going with a different brand just to have something different and a little wider, but my fronts still have a good amount of tread left and didn't want to mix brands.

I like the Coopers; got 30k out of the rears, which is decent.

Yes nitto motivos will work on the rear and 255/55 will be fine whether or not you have traction control

WPG Merc, I am from south Florida. Ft. Lauderdale to be exact.

IwantmyMMnow, i was not aware that running a different brand in therear as in the front would cause problem. I thought that a lot of people on here actually run OEM tires on the front and diff brand and sizes on the rears? I did this in the past and didnt have any problems.

Yes, many have. Just a personal preference, really...I like for all of my tires to match.

MeBot, thanks for the quick response also. I feel like the Motivo's are the best bet with their 560 treadwear rating and 60,000 mile warranty. I really dont wanna spend that much on tires right now, but feel as if those will be an investment considering ive only put 44,000 miles on my car since i got it back in march of 2007 and have been through 3 or 4 sets of rear tires and i drive like a grandpa.

IwantmyMMnow, ahh I see, its more of a cosmetic thing. I feel you on that one. I will def be matching the fronts with the rears when the time comes to replace the fronts.

WPG Merc, thats how i feel living in south florida. I mean its a 6/7 hour drive just for me to get out of this state. lol. I feel stranded from the rest of the country. When i leave the state i usually fly to my friends house in NC and then road trip from there.

^^ Thanks, was actually just on there ordering a pair. They came out to $400 with the "Certificates for Refund or Replacement (https://www.discounttiredirect.com/certsMoreInfo.html)". Not too bad, but not cheap either. Oh well it was time and shouldnt have to change them for a while. Thanks for your input.
