I have noticed that a lot of you have upgraded to the Silverstars. How did they work out? I was thinking of buying some. Are they worth it?

Yes, they are a nicer bulb, but rewiring the headlights and fogs to a higher 10 gage wire that comes directly from the battery via relays made the biggest difference.

Hello and welcome!

You asked for honest opinions, and as I once used the silverstars, mine counts as well.
I actually tried them as they seemed very popular on site and the factory ones are too dim, and too yellow.
The silverstars did not suit my taste, and trust me, I was / am part of the minority here as the ss bulbs are quite liked.

I prefer zenon, and that's what I like. I use a 80/100 bulb and rarely if ever utilize the high beam as the 80w low beam is more than sufficient for nite blind folks like me. Very white, almost bluish white, and far whiter than the silverstars.

BTW: Knock on wood, for four years prior and 1.5 years on the MM, I have had no wiring harness issues or headlamp cover issue with this setup.

Please reply with the Zenon or Xenon Bulb numbers.

Thanks,

Well guys I decided today was the day to get a pair of Silver Stars. So, I drove up to Pep Boys and purchase a pair. Went home and started to install them. Started with the driver's side first. Took out the head lamp carefully, a little tight, but took my time. Switched out the bulb and replaced the head lamp. That was easy enough; a little time consuming, but easy. Made my way over to the passenger side. I started to remove the head lamp carefully like the other, when my heart sank to my stomach. It seems the side maker lamp binded up and a CHUNK of plastic cracked off. I could of cried like a baby. What the heck did I do. Stupid me didn't even think of loosing the side marker first. Duh!!!! Well it was a costly mistake, but it is said you learn by them. I hope they are right. Now I have to hunt down the part number and order a new one. My brother-in-law received a pair for Christmas, boy will I make sure he doesn't make the same STUPID mistake I did.

I love my silver stars. Most of the aftermarket bulbs have too much blue on them which hinders their abilities. The stars are just right.

If you want good lights though, go Cruztakers way and get Xenon. I think most people skip that because of price, but nothing beats Xenons...they're just awesome. You can buy Xenon kits online at places, but I'd suggest getting 8000k or so. I'm sure you could get a set from a Town Car too. I saw some of those the other night...they were nice. Not BMW standard...but nice.
