Windy City Bid for Marauderville 12

Alright guys we are looking at putting together a bid for hosting Marauderville 12 in Chicago.

Chicago has never hosted a Marauderville event before and in conversations with different members we believe it is time for us to step up and put a bid together.

I know every one is extremely busy on the weekends so I am proposing we get together monday night -Oct. 7 and discuss how we can handle the bid. The more guys we have involved the better it will be for everyone.

I am thinking we could do something at a local bar/pub centrally located like maybe Fox's Pub in Oak Lawn on Cicero Avenue.Probably around 7:30 to 8pm.

It should not take us more then a couple of hours and we can watch the game and have a few brews to boot.

We would like to see who is interested and can make it so please post up.

It's time for WCM to step up and show the rest of the MM world how we do it - Chicago style!!!

Drive time is around 11 hours -easy peasy right up i-65 :) It actually was not that bad of a drive -alot of cool scenery to look at and we stopped a couple of times.

We put ours together over lunch pretty much. You don't need to have everything nailed down, just a good idea of what you want to do, and plan B events just in case. Gather some info from those places, and submit. Plus visit the hotel before submission, do a site visit and get quote on room rates

I'm sorry to say that I wont be able to make it either. I drove to Iowa this past Friday for my sisters wedding. The next morning the turn signals weren't working. Then I realized the head lights, tail lights, alarm, and cluster lights weren't working either. Came here to find out that my LCM took a crap! I'd drive my other car, but I don't think my Taurus would make it. (I was hit in the rear by a semi! The lip of the wheel well rubs the tire over some bumps. It's great to use as just a work vehicle.)

A reschedule will be very good. I've been way to busy at work and demoing my house before the roll off dumpsters were picked up. Now my wife is having surgery tomorrow and I'll have to care for her for quite some time.

We did have weekly meetings and they were posted on this thread. We received a lot of great ideas from so many people that it was a bit overwhelming at times but we are finally getting a plan in place.

If someone had told me that it would be this tough to find hotels that could accomodate all of our needs and be within our normal price range I would have thought you were crazy. But it has been something of an adventure ...trust me.

I have a new appreciation for all the hard work our members/owners go through to find and retain these great accomodations that we are all used too. If you get a chance you should thank them directly for this as it is a real pain in the butt!

We will also be putting a call out for volunteers and people to run certain things if we receive MM.net's nomination.

So if you havent been able to attend a meeting no worries we will have plenty of stuff for people to get involved in.

Sorry for the delay in posting this but Sunday night during the snow storm my wife and I were driving seperate vehicles, hit a patch of black ice and we totaled both of them. Everyone is okay and I am now working on my options with the insurance company.

The important thing is my wife and kids are okay and we all walked away without a scratch.

And before you ask NO the Marauder was not involved. It is safely stored in the garage.

I would like to personally thank everyone who attended our meetings and those who gave us many ideas for this event. Your work and efforts were very much appreciated. I could not have even come close to doing this without your great support.

I hope we can count on everyone for volunteering if we win the bid.

Just looked at my truck today and it is jacked! Whole left side from drivers door down to the rear bumper is smashed. Looks like a hill with separate moguls in it. Back of the bed the metal is actually torn. Hard to do anything when it is 6 degrees out!

Might have to breakdown and buy a new used one ....hard cause I actually love my truck!

I'd scour ebay and craigslist in some southern metro cities.

There's MM members in every one of them, and I'm sure they would take a look for you if you see a truck you like.

thanks guys! I am going to wait till the spring and then start really looking. Will need a 6ft short bed and maybe a drivers side fender as it is starting to rust.

Dam salt and crap up here will kill anything that is driven in the winter. Washed my truck every week and kept it waxed but it didnt matter as the rust just came out from the inside of the panels!
