I had some Flowmaster Super 40's installed not too long ago, but I'm wanting something a little louder. I'm not very mechanical and don't know too much of what I'm talking about, so how would I get this done? I've heard removing the cats will do it, but then what do I need? Will the check engine light be on from the emissions? Any help would be great!

I have Magna Flow mufflers and Magna Flow Hi Flow Cats (and Kooks headers w/resonator delete, too) and the car sounds decent at idle and low rpm. When you step on it, to me, it is loud. You don't have to floor it either. It is not so loud that I don't like it, but louder than I would have expected. I definitely would not want it any louder! Some friends drove next to me and said it's not obnoxious loud, "it just sounds like there is something pretty powerful under the hood".
PS, the nice thing with this set up is there is no drone.

Try the Eaton swap! It not only will make it louder but faster !!!

You have any sound clips of a borla system and BOTH sets of cats? I need I keep both sets thanks to CA emissions. I had Borla on my SHO and you couldn't get a more perfect sound. Also what Borla muffler (part number) are you suggesting?
Thanks!

I don't have a sound clip... I also only have one set of cats. Let me see if I can find the part number.

So it will definately not pass CA emissions with the rear cats deleted? Was hoping to do this & see how it sounds with stock exhaust.

Also an FYI Flowmasters are the worst flowing of aftermarket mufflers.

It will fail the visual inspection if you have a competent SMOG technician. As the car came with 4, it should have 4. I have discussed this with my local CARB and still can not convince them.
I have heard the borla's with 2 cats, sounds great but I would love to hear them with 4 cats as the sound will change.

All I need is for it to pass the sniffer. Might just try it to find out for myself.

If all I was concerned was the sniffer test, I would have removed the rear cats already. Borlas without the rear cats sound great on the Youtube videos that I have watched.

Deleting the resonators in the tips might help?
