I just swapped out my stock radio with the subject radio. It plays burnt audio CDs fine. I burned an MP3 CD and was able to get about 50 MP3s onto it. I dragged and dropped the MP3s right into the burn drive onto a CD-R. I chose the option that says will play on computers and some CD players. I get an error "Error Reading Disk" when I pop it into the car CD player.

Has anyone had this problem? Could it be there's too many MP3s on the disk?

Any advise appreciated.

Thanks,
Pete

I did the same thing with dragging the MP3s.

You've got to burn it as a music CD.

So if I burn it as a music CD, I'll only be able to fit as many tracks as a regular music CD which is alot less than MP3s due to the conversion? I was under the impression this stereo plays MP3s and I'd be able to fit alot more files than a music CD.

No, the audiophile unit DOES play data mp3 discs.

Few Suggestions:

Use a good quality blank disc - CD-R (nothing else)
Use Nero Burning Rom - not the crappy windows "built in" buring app.
Make sure the music files are in MP3 format, if not convert them first.
Don't burn at 52x - slow it down.
Close the session - finalize. No multisession burns.

I have several discs that have 200+ songs on 1 CD. With 6 data mode MP3 CD's loaded you'd have 1000+ songs easy. Yes they play fine in my 6L8T18C815FD.

Good luck

Check, check, and check on everything above except I DID use the Windows built-in burning software. I'll download Nero tonight. I've used it before with good results. Thanks for the tip.

Turns out even after downloading and burning a data disk with Nero, it didn't play. After a little research, it turns out Nero's default data setting is CD ROM (UDF). In order to play the MP3s in the car, you need to burn the CD using the CD ROM (ISO) setting. I'm guessing the UDF is an updated version of ISO which the car stereo doesn't recognize.

Time to start burning!!

Thanks for all your help!

The ISO tip was absolutely the hot ticket. I had burned a number of coasters before this, including a few that would lock the head unit up solid and not allow it to eject CDs anymore unless you waited around about 10 minutes for the READ ERROR message to go away, then key-off for a minute, then key-on. Then (and only then) could you eject the disc!

Then, I found this thread and burned the .mp3s with NERO using the ISO format. Bingo; perfection; it plays and navigates beautifully. My first CD is a "top 100" collection with 100 songs on it...and they all play. Thanks for posting this discovery way back in 2013.
