I bought my MM 3 weeks ago, tomorrow. I've already asked a couple or so questions, and I know I'm gonna have many more. Here's what I got today, hopefully someone can help.
So my MM has a little over 71,000 miles. I put a K&N filter in the stock box the second day, (CAI coming soon!) and have had to replace bulbs, and burp the system. Well, a couple of days ago I wanted to change the PCV Valve. Not sure, but it might be the original. Anyways, I bought one and put it in. Now the problem was the elbow. The new PCV didn't have one, and I couldn't get the current one off!! It's plastic! Is there some trick to getting it off? So I took a trip to O'Reillys and bought an elbow for a ford in the help section. When I got home I took the tube off to see if it would fit, and it was to lose, and not plastic! (Not that big of a deal.)
I ended up wrapping the elbow with electrical tape, and it fits in the tube nice and snuggly now. So here's the question, How the hell do I get the plastic elbow off?
Another question; Where can I get a set of inserts for the "Marauder" on the rear bumper? Do I have to paint them, or do they come in different colors? And lastly, How easy is it to take them back out?
That's all I have for today, I think. I'll probably have something else pop into my head right after I post this, but I'll wait til I have a few more questions.
Thanks!
P.S. Here's a pic of the engine. Sure, it looks just like anybody else's stock 4.6, but this one is mine.

Here's the SS Inserts. And once they're on you won't want to take em off...but fishing wire will work or dental floss if you have time to kill.

Yeah, I know about it. I'm gonna go on the 6th so I can meet some other members, and to see what this is all about. Sounds like one heck of a time from what I've read about past events! But thanks for letting me know in case I didn't.

Thanks for letting me know! I figured I'd ask how to take them off for the possible next owner after me. I have a 2004 Silver Birch and I think the Black inserts would look great! Especially with the tinted windows, and my Chicago White Sox plates. (They're Black) I just have to transfer the plates from my other car.:bigcry:
Here's already another question; Is there some kind of cap I can put over the hole where the silencer is. Getting rid of it should help flow before I get a CAI, and it should have a better sound when I put the pedal to the floor.

I've heard or read here a couple years ago,t hat the silencer or "walrus tooth" as I think it is nicknamed can be removed and plugged with a skippy/jif peanut butter lid painted black..Not sure on this, but search walrus tooth on here and see...or get the tube that comes with a K & N FIPK or get one from JLT. As for elbow on pcv..i think one needs a heat gun to take it off..it will soften and them firm up when cool. I'm sure someone else will reply with more info.

Walrus Tooth huh. I can see it being called that. It reminds me of Gonzos nose from the Muppets. But whatever it's called, Thanks for the help with the peanut butter tip. I knew I couldn't be the only one to think of removing it, and capping it off.

I saw the K & N decal and thought you had a K & N set up..That is another option..changing out the factory intake to one from K & N or JLT

The snorkel / tube is a Helmholtz Resonator. Google it. Designed to keep the intake quiet.
Don't use a peanut butter cap...... Cut about 2" off the closed end of the Helmholtz Resonator and use that to plug the hole. It works great and it's the same material.

I have an xcal1 with Lidio tunes for sale in the classified section. CRD0 is the code. Inexpensive way to get a tune until you are ready to spend more money on a tune and more up to date programmer. $100

That sounds like a good idea to use the same mat'l so it matches, but I think I might try the peanut butter cap. I plan on getting a CAI here in the next couple of weeks, an if and when I sell my MM, I'll put the original set up back on. Knowing my luck, the Helmholtz Resonator will be worth something being intact, because everyone else will have cut a 2' hole into it.:burnout:
Thanks for the advice though

I'd like to buy it, but I'm a lil strapped on extra cash right now. Plus I'm not sure if I could use it. You say CRDO is the code, and in your post for it you say CRDO is your door code. I assume the code your talking about isn't the one for me to open my door. An if that's the case, were do I find out what my code is, and if it matches?

Ouch didn't realize the inserts were $70.00 :/ That's prolly for stainless, Chris. The vinyl ones from BobWhite come in tons of colors for a lot less if you like that vs. stainless.

Code is on the driver door jam, the body area not the door area. it's a white sticker with 4 letter/number in black..about the size of two postage stamps side by side. It's the pcm code. some are MAV4 for instance

Gotcha! Well I've seen that sticker, and wondered what the heck it was. Unfortunately mine is MAV2, so it doesn't look like Xcal1 would work for me.

I'm off to get coffee right now and can swing by a hardware store along the way. So I would need to get a 2' I.D. right? That's the size of the hole. I'll probably have to paint it first.

I used these too. You can get the samples and check them out with the car before ordering. Had mine on the car for 4-5 years now.

I figure that I probably don't need a swatch for just Black. Maybe if I were thinking of different colors. So what would be better, reflective, or non-reflective?

Black Reflective is nice. Really pops at night. (Red IIRC)

Sounds good. Now I have 3 different choices of who to buy them from.
