The plastic cover ( what is this part called?) which sits under the windshield wipers has faded. - What product can I use to dye it black?

Thanks

You can try paint made especially for plastic. Follow the instructions on the can. I'm going to try and get mine hydro dipped.

Take it off and clean it good since that looks like scale from standing water to me!!

Mine is pretty old and it doesn't look like that....just saying!!

Scrub it with a strong all purpose cleaner, I like Spray 9.
Then try something like Poorboys World Plastic and trim Restorer
I have been using Wolfgang trim sealant with great success.

For the solution that's approved by all the major automakers, go to this site http://www.autoint.com and look for their "Exterior Trim Restoration III " kit. I've used it (as have a zillion dealers and pro detailers) and it works, period.

EDIT: Here, this is the direct link: http://www.valugard.net/store/p-31-etr-kit-iii.aspx

Did you use it on your Marauder? How did it come out?

No, my Panthers (P73 & P71) didn't need such restoration. I've used it on some parts of my Chevy Tahoe and it came out great. Pro detailers I know use it on all sorts of exterior trim on all sorts of vehicles, and I've never heard anything negative about it (IF you follow the instructions ;) Don't worry, they're really simple and easy).

Note that the second stage of the kit is a UV-protection coating, and it might fade a little over time as it absorbs the rays (rather than letting the plastic do that). But even with lots of UV exposure it oughta last for years.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ford has OKed the ETRIII for stuff just like this. That UV-protection is a big part of what separates this approach from most such "recoloring" products.
