Took the baby into a shop to have the TCE SS brake lines installed. Shop called and said they don't fit..........WTH!

I thought these lines were a direct fit?

I contacted TCE, but I haven't heard anything back yet.

They fit. I had to drill the mounting holes on the car slightly larger but otherwise direct fit.

They fit. Mine bolted right up. No modifications necessary.

I did the same to mine and it all worked very well.

Same here. Just make sure they route them correctly so they clear everything.

It seems the shop may be the issue...........I will need to look into this further.

Thanks everyone

I had a 4 wheel TCE kit installed when my front suspension was rebuilt. The shop botched the brake portion of the install and I had to re-do it myself.

To be fair, it was not as dead simple as OEM and required thought.

Hoses alone should be easy, however.

We have installed dozens of these brake lines without a glitch.

Your shop choice needs to be revisited.

Mine fit, no prob. :D

Sounds like you are using a parts changer instead of a mechanic. :shake:

They do require some adjustment to line up for preventing chafing.

One of the easier mods i did, fit like a glove!

Offered to exchange them upon inspection if found to be incorrect. At this point I cannot say what or why without seeing them.

And the next run of brackets has the hole opened up a bit for the hose end to slip thru. Sorry about that...seems the last run reverted back to a former dxf file for some reason with a slight smaller hole thus the bit of filing. Back to about .635" I believe.

Running this on all 4 corners without issues...

Ok, went into shop and mechanic stated they seem shorter than the stock lines, especially the way they bend. He was worried they may rub against the tire.

What is the best way to get this done?

Over time the OEM rubber hoses will weaken internally and will swell or balloon out when applying the brakes giving the brakes a spongy feel and a low brake pedal. The stainless steel lines prevent that.

^This. You can definitely tell the difference with the SS lines. I did mine a few years back.

Sounds like something worth investing in then

The SS lines aren't as good as a big brake upgrade but the pedal feel will be 100% better.

If you do both, your car will be able to stop on a rolling dime! :D

abs, brake lights came on from ss brake lines.....help.

SS lines would not cause that..It's no different than if you changed out a rubber line instead..Either it is low on fluid..check master cylinder level, or there is air in the system still..need to bleed it without letting the master cylinder run low or maybe knocked off a abs sensor off the ring?

Thanks, I need to shuffle over there and check.

If air got into the ABS modulater that will cause issues that is beyond my knowledge so maybe someone else will reply with more info that they know.

Bet you they let the master cyl run low with the key on. Need to do a manual bleed at all 4 corners & watch fluid level. As I've advised before, have the HCU bled using the FORD IDS(unless there is an aftermarket scanner that can also perform this function). After I installed the TCE lines, performed a manual bleed & an HCU bleed procedure, I can't see my pedal getting any better. No need for updating to newer model year parts as I've seen mentioned in other threads.

The brakes aren't bled properly if at all..... I'd take my car elsewhere.

I did the Marauder and my Vic.... no problems with the installations and the one little one that sprung up, Todd took care of quickly.
I too would wonder about the shop you use.
