I'm replacing the rear passenger window regulator.
I purchased it from Tasca parts for $61 + $9 Freight (no sales tax).
I purchased a 3" wheel cutter at Harbor Freight for $15 (including coupons).
I've removed the 5 rivets holding the regulator and the window.
I had to drill out #5 as the wheel cutter doesn't fit on the left side of the window to remove the rivet.
This is where I'm stuck. What do I do next?
How do I get the window out?
Do I also remove the window motor?

First if the rivets are the large aluminum ones you can punch out the center pin, break off the 3 pieces on the back and pop the rivet out. No grinding needed.

No need to remove the window. Use 2 or 3 pieces of heater hose to wedge in between the window and the inside door frame. That will hold the window in position.

The motor is attached to the regulator. I'd suggest replacing the motor and the regulator as a unit. You know that after you swap the motor over to the new regulator the motor will crap out a short time later. Then you'll have to do the entire job over again.

If you just replace the motor, there are usually small indentations in the inside door skin. If you drill those out to get the appropriate sized socket for the three (usually) bolts that hold the motor to the regulator you can unbolt the motor without removing the regulator.

My passenger side front window regulator just bought the farm yesterday. I'll be doing a write up this weekend on the replacement. I'll be replacing both the regulator and the motor.

I have had only 1 regulator fail in all the years I have owned ford cars, the cable actually broke. All other window related failures have been the 3 cams in the motor (may have been in the regulator) which I ordered and replaced them. Have not had a failure in 10 years now. I disassembled the motor and cleaned all the internal parts and repacked with suitable grease the put it back together. Only one bad motor also.
So is the the regulator or is the the motor?

Use 6" or 8" pieces of heater hose wedged in between the window and inner door panel to keep the window in place.
