Just another Stupid Usless Vehicle, SUV.

God I hate them.

When I first heard of them, I'm thinking to myself... "Why pimp out a small SUV with Lincoln stuff? There is no way anyone will pop that much money for one when they can get a Mountaineer for less with about the same comfort." BUT, on the contrary, when I was checking up on my MM in the shop, the first arrivals of Aviators came in. A week later, ALL of te origanals that were there were gone, replaced with a new shipment! That is A LOT of sales for this time of the year! Now it's about 3 weeks after dealers got them, and here I'm starting to see them everyday! Nuts... Talk about selling like hot cakes! My Explorer rental car is a decient vehicle, zippy for a V6, but I'd never own one. They just aren't practical for me...

The Aviator has the same engine as our MM, but has a sweet 5 speed tranny that makes it almost as quick as a stock MM. Hopefully theyll wake up and put the 5 speed in the MM next year, but i havent heasrd any rumors of it yet.

Once you have a few kids you'll appreciate a Sport Ute.

If you want to have a few kids, get an Escalade and you
will probably be in a position to have some in short order. :)

I can't wait to see blown Aviator. :)

Concidering any kids I have will be linebackers from the word go, I'll stick to my 5 star crash test rated panther platform car :) And the wife has a ... PT Cruiser.

Of course, my wife would love an old hearse... she's strange that way... :)

I don't know how old you are, but I was a kid when there was no such thing as an "SUV", and I don't recall my parents ever wishing someone would invent one...we got along just fine with our '58 T-bird, our '64 Nova wagon, and our '67 Skylark...(one at a time)

Man, I wish I had that T-bird NOW...

RF Overlord,

My dad had a 69 Camaro when I was a kid. Back then there were no SUVs because there were station wagons. The SUV and the Minivan
just replaced the Station Wagon. I love station wagons, but I appreciate
4WD.

I cannot fit my whole family in my Marauder. If I had to get rid of a car,
I'd have to do like Logan and sell my MM because my SUV is the only
thing I have that can carry my whole crew.

If you are a person who likes SUVs, you will appreciate that the Aviator
is very special. The Escalade is still the King, but the Aviator is a right
upstanding contender.

If you don't like SUVs, I can understand. I am not fond of many entire
classes of vehicles myself.

As they say, "There's no accounting for taste." :)

I despised Mini-vans when they came out, but they were more "effecent" then station wagons. THe SUV was the next in the natural eveolution of cars. It's just the average driver of them can't see over the dash without a stack of phonebooks and blocks attached to there feet. :)

It's become the female equvlent of the male "little red sports car"

My wife PT can accept a larger item then a Derago.

When I first saw a picture of a PT Cruiser, I thought "Kick A!! They are going to build hotrodded panel trucks!! :)"

When I first saw a PT Cruiser in person, I thought, "OMG!! They build it to 1/2 scale!!"

My neighbor had a '02 Caddy DeVille. At 15,000 miles it had 2 sets of front tires and 3 brake jobs. Filed a lemon law complaint. After about 6 weeks she went to the Caddy dealer and got a refund check. Then went to our dealer and bought his first Aviator. And signed the Caddy dealer refund check over to the Lincoln dealer. :-)

The Aviator is nice. She got the DVD system, too.

SUV=Stupid Usless Vehicle
What I do not understand is how a vehicle that is 800 lb more that our MM almost matches us in the 1/4 mile? SVT did the engine and the one I looked at had only single exhaust?

I'll believe that an Aviator can pull a 14.8 when I see a timeslip
and not one second before.

I'm jealous of that tranny too, but I just don't believe it can make
that much difference.

My personal guess is that an Aviator is going to run about 15.5.

If Lincoln Mercury keep throwing the MM motor in other cars it doesn't make the MM stand out.

Headline:

MOM in SUV, smokes cop car in 1/4 mile.

Well that 5 spd trans may be all that.
My wifes Explorer Sporttrack has a 4.0 V6 with that trans and she runs with me in 1st and 2nd gear when she shifts to 3rd I'm gone.It also BARKS the tires into 2nd.She's going into 3rd when I'm going into second.
Now if I had 4.10's.............:)

I tested the Aviator
smooth as a baby's u know what......Very nimble and very quick for an SUV. The dash display is wonderful, glowy white, HIDs are a great touch too. I did sit in the new Navigator, it's the same thing. No trouble fitting in it, I'm 6'4" 260 too....If I didnt get the MM, i wouldve gotten myself one of these

Hey do not forget that this SUV can tow 7300lb! Maybe I'll get one in black to tow my MM around. (hahaha)
Big Dog
Ps: The MM is whole lot more fun!
