I need some timing chain work done on my Grand Marquis. My favorite mechanic closed up shop a couple of years ago.
Anyone have one they would recommend? I just called a All American Ford in Old Bridge and they sound like a rip off.:help:

Don't know anybody down your way. Try checking with the Mustang crowd they might have some ideas.

We have an All American Ford in Hackensack (Bergen Cty NJ) Rip-Off doesn't even begin to describe them. They are the Automotive Taliban
I'll ask my friends in the Shelby club who works on their cars. A few live near Old Bridge, others live near Somerset.

Mention MartyO - he will treat you right.

I've had my MM in All American Ford in Old Bridge a few months ago to finally fix my A/C. I will say I was pleased overall but they're not cheap (what dealer is?).
The 1st time I had my car there was back in '09 for a routine once-over after I got the car. I figured bring the Ford product to Ford, they'll know all about it. They did fine with the service, no complaints, but they refused to call the car a Marauder. In fact, when entering it into their computer system, it wasn't even an option(?!?). I know it's not a huge deal but their insistence on referring to my MM as a GM made me nuts (no offense. They're 2 different animals.)
I didn't go back until a few months ago and they did fix the A/C properly after a local shop screwed it up more than it already was. It took them a few days, longer than I expected, but service managers were pretty responsive. This time, I was sure to correct each person who referred to it as a GM. I mean, they did make 11k of them. I bet a Ford GT is in their system.

Hey there! Haven't seen you around in a while. How many miles are on your engine now? At 100K the tensioners and guides are suspect for sure.
Hope it goes well for you.

Yeah, I haven't been doing much with my cars in the past 2-3 years. The engine has about 86,000 miles on it. The chain guide on the passenger side broke and pieces are under the valve cover.
When I called All American and told him this, he said I might have to replace my engine. Then he found the pricing on timing chain maintenance and he said it was going to be $2200. That's when I just hung up...

One of the "All American" dealerships told me that my 2004 Lincoln LS needed a new oil pan gasket. Quoted a ridiculous price.
Did it myself; took longer to put the car on the ramps and drain the oil than it did to replace the gasket.
I even had it double checked by a friend of mine who is a mechanic.
Bottom line, still has a motor leak, so, 1) All American was wrong and 2) All American is too expensive.
