Hello, I smell anti-freeze from my marauder and thought it was from the radiator.. but I looked again and it seemed dry, I looked at front of the engine and can see green antifreeze around the bottom of the oil pan and it is on the power steering hoses that run in front of the oil pan. The water pump was changed in August 2012 but I had to buy an after market one because I was out of state and this was the only one I can get. Could this be a head gasket issue? I do not see anything funny with the oil.. nice and clean.

Are you sure it isn't A/C refrigerant? The leak-detection dye used in the system is bright green...

Could be a bad hose down low or an issue with the oil filter adapter as well?
Mike.

Not the dye from the AC condensor... I had to put antifreeze in it...and burp it....would I be able to tell if it was leaking into the engine? If it is a leaking head gasket could it be seeping down the side of the engine? Oil filter adapter?

The oil filter adapter is more to the left side of the front of the engine. Easier seen from below. Usualy will leak oil/antifreeze when running due to the pressure. It starts as a seep and then becomes a stream. Usually around 100K miles.
From the cetner front of the engine is back to water pump. The weep hole on the bottom is hard to see if leaking, you have to really get under it and look. It is possible they nicked the sealing ring installing the new pump. I have seen that before on modular engines, especially if they don't clean the sealing surface very well.
Head gaskets don't seal in the front, they are behind the timing cover.
I have seen some 4.6 head gaskets start to leak in the center of the side of the head where it mates to the block. Usually there is an antifreeze stain down the side of the block that is very visible from underneath.

I found the leak. In August of 2012 I replaced the water pump.. I had to get it from Advance Auto Parts...I was in Cresson PA and the only Ford dealer that had one was over 100 miles away. I settled for the aftermarket one just to get back to Boston...Guess I will order the Ford part now!!!
Thanks for all the help
