View Full Version : Rear Bumper Restoration/Tuck??

So I did a quick search and didnt come up with anything.

How are us marauder guys restoring the rear bumper?

On my Vic's and GMQ we do the bumper tuck, remove the 2 7mm bolts in the back underside of the bumper, turn the brackets out of the way, and zip tie the bolt hole of the bumper to a bracket further forward to keep the bottom of the rear bumper from sagging, and it works great, even state patrol does it here.

My Marauder has the rear bumper that is sagging in the bottom middle, and I hear us marauders also have the problem with the wavy sides of the rear bumper.

So what kind of things has everyone been doing to correct and prevent these issues?

I'm bringing the marauder to work tomorrow to put it on the hoist and do some maintance, and figured it would be a good time to work on the bumper. Thanks guys.

I am REALLY against extra holes in factory parts so I refused to drill any holes in the bumper to attach zip ties or anything like that. I think the solution I came up with is even easier than cutting the bumper anyway.

I went to Lowe's and got a 1/4" stick of AL. I forget what length it came in (2 or 3'), whatever it was wound up being the perfect length for the channel that was sagging at the bottom of the bumper. I attached some 1/4" 3M double sided tape and taped it into that channel. Done. Took more time to drive to the store than to install it.

Well for the vics and GMQ you don't add any holes, you remove a screw and put the ziptie through the hole where the screw went, takes 150 seconds, a 7mm and 2 zip ties

I'm curious about what others have one to correct the wavy rear bumper sides.

The Pro-guard (police item) will fix the rear bumper sag in the marauder.

Not so much, not if it is already sagged.

Mine has worked extremely well, no holes, nothing non-remove able

Big +1 on this ^^^^^

I wonder if someone will come up with a fix for this.

I have the skid plate (pro guard) from DR, along with Travis' bumper sag fix bracket.

Both of them work wonderful.

Look at my link, I addressed that too.
Recently I took the cover back off and changed the mounting of the "wings" I made. I had them fastened with trim tape, now they are attached with pop rivets.

What I did:

I got some aluminum flat stock, about 1/4 thick, cut or break it into an 8 inch piece, get under MM push up on bumper cover, you will see it sits on a metal "shelf". Bend shim by hand so it has a slight rounded angle. Take some RTV slather up flat stock and slide in between cover and shelf, then let bumper down slowly. Bumper will now sit 1/4" higher under the tail lights. Repeat on other side.

I tried the rear bumper tuck on the MM and it didn't look good. Got the proguard and a small piece of flat stock bolted to the center rear to cure the droop.

I saw that link, but that was for the sag under the taillights not for the wavy sides.

Perhaps if you fix the rear sag the "waves" will go away. Post up a picture as I never had waves on the side.

The sides of my rear bumper aren't straight either.Sorta bend in in the middle..I think a piece of flat stock would straighten it out..Anyone tried this?how does it work? Not sure where to attach it....Maybe just use some 3m two sided foam type tape..I think it's called VHB..Supposed to be very very strong...
