I did some searching around on the digest here, but couldn't find anything that seemed to apply. Here's what I hearing:
I just started to notice what seems to be a "whistling" sound from the HVAC system. It only occurs when the system is on, and, obviously, the blower motor is running. It happens in all modes, and is dependent upon the blower motor speed. Otherwise, the HVAC system works fine.
On a lark last night, I tried to locate the source of the noise. It cannot be heard from outside, near the cowl area. I finally sourced it to the area where the inside temperature sensor is located, just to the right of the ETAC. Now, I know there is a hose that is supposed to vent to the outside so that, when you are driving, air will be pulled across the temperature sensor such that it will see a, more or less, correct temperature.
So...being that it was late, I simply blew air from my mouth as hard as I could down through the dash opening. After doing this several times, it seems to have quieted down the whistle (which occurs mostly at lower blower speeds). It's not gone - but less than it was.
Short of dismantling the system, has anyone else run into this problem before, and, if so, what did you do to fix it.
Thanks as always for the great help here over the years!
