I will eventually replace with good adjustable height units, but since the wife was **** off, I plan to go cheap for now. Anyone have a oem decent unit I can buy / borrow??? Believe it or not, my original spring has a crack in it!!!!

I could also switch the spring, but the assembly is easier.....

Thnx TP in VA

2003B if that matters.

You have to do the job twice instead of doing it right one time??

Sounds like a plan.....................

I was taught to work smarter, not harder.

If you can get the stock shocks use them.

I don't know what others have been using.

My driver side front spring is broke, about a half a coil at the bottom. I was worried at first, but its not absolutely imperative to fix especially when your low on cash. Just FYI. Save up for the struts and coil overs you want.

The best, spare-no-expense solution for the front is Penske 7500DA coil-overs with 600 lbs/in springs and a clevis adapter to mount to the old strut plate location in the frame. A high-dollar solution but unbeatable performance and ride.

The more-affordable approach is a new OEM spring and KYB shock. I have driven a car with KYB in the rear and it was pretty nice for budget shocks. But I have no personal experience with them in the front.

As to putting in a used shock/spring, you are really wasting time as these parts are shot at 10 years. I guess you have to do what you have to do. :(

It is torqueing on your sway bar and end links. I guess it all depends on your tolerance for a broken car.

That it may, i didn't say it was a good idea, just that its not imperative to fix asap. Now if you're talking a broken fuel pump, thats where you need to spend money. :)

The problem with that thinking is a small inexpensive problem turns into a bigger more expensive problem when not fixed. Plus you driving an unsafe vehicle.

okay, okay, :P my spring is broken, and im not fixing it until I have the money/initiative to replace both rear shocks, both front struts with moog coil overs, so far ive been driving on it for at least 10K miles, and I haven't broken a sweat thinking about it :neener: . is it the right thing to do? no, but neither is going 56mph in a 55mph zone. im just trying to tell Thomas to relax, fix it the right way when you have the money, its not life or death of the car.
