Oil odor

Wife and friends drove the MM down to Monteray Bay for lunch last week and ocasional detected a slight odor of oil...Vent mode and temp set at 60 degrees.

Checked oil level...OK no coolent present, Checked for oil leaks...none, checked coolent over flow tank and no oil present.

Any one else incurred this phenomenon?

How does the area around PVC look? Dry, oily residue?

PVC clean, no evidence of oil any where on the valve covers as well.

Check under the car...see if any transmission leaks are dripping onto the exhaust system. Also check for rear axle seal leaks.

Checked for trans and axel leaks. none detected.

drove family to San Jose Saturday and did not detect any oil odor so maybe the odor was from vehicles or road surface paving?

maybe the odor was from vehicles or road surface paving?Drove The Blackbird to Detroit for Lidio to tune it and on the way started smelling overheated brakes and panicked. The smell kept getting stronger and finally I saw smoke...from the 18-wheeler in front of me.
