Car has front end damage. Because its got 135,000 miles on it, insurance company wants to total it. Car is fine from the radiator back.
If there's any interest in this car whole, or for it's Trilogy'd Ford Racing Aluminator with 25,000 miles on it....let me know.

Considering buying a crown vic and dropping the motor in it if I don't unload it. :flamer:

You can email me at bill@elginet.com if you're interested. BTW....the S/C was just rebuilt by Magnuson, not even a month ago....so this is an engine ready to go.

If it were me and I loved the car (and considering how many "real" marauders there are now still on the road and versus clones) I would do what my brother did. His box Grand Marquis got rear ended about a year ago. Insurance was going to total it (considering age of car, etc.) and pay because it was the other drivers fault but he loved the car so he paid for a lot of his own parts (he had a lot of NOS stuff anyway laying around trying to fix it up to look good) and got the repair bill under what the insurance said the car value that they were going to total it at. Car fixed by body shop, insurance still paid for a good amount of it, car not blacklisted as totaled, and car back in my brother's hands, no salvage title to worry about, legal to drive still in any state, still runs great for 251,000 miles on original engine and trans (leaks some oil though), one less peice of Americana in the landfill, etc....he is a happy camper and that is what matters.

How would you do that if your car is a daily driver and not a garage queen? Who insured your car? From what I've seen you are rescrited by mileage and usage of your car.

I'm definitely buying back from the insurance company. I don't think I want to mess with repairing it though. This will be the 2nd Marauder I've owned, and the 2nd one I've wrecked. (although the first wasn't my fault.)

This High Compression Ford Racing Aluminator has about 25,000 miles since new, and the Trilogy Super Charger was just rebuilt by Magnuson not more than a month ago.

OK, sounds like one more Marauder down. And if someone buys the entire car, good luck in most states getting that stinker title from "Salvage" back to normal.

vegasmarauder
11-18-2013, 10:25 AM
A salvage title becomes a "rebuilt" title (or similar) in most states after the car is repaired and inspected. The Feds have been trying to standardize all state's title laws and terminology over the years.

If the work is done well and quality parts are used, there really will no difference in the way the car drives.

I have a "rebuilt" title DTR MM for about a year and half. I was going to part it, but since the frame was not damaged, I fixed it myself using all new Ford OEm parts. I have put 20K miles on it with no problems at all. It is tight and quiet and starts/runs great. I am thinking of selling it for 7K firm since the wife dosen't think we need 5 MM's.

I wouldn't eliminate a salvage or rebuilt vehicle solely on that basis, each one is unique. A lot of insurance companies total a car if it has more than 100K miles or they see discontinued parts (headlights, bumper covers, etc) because of cost overruns if they start a repair. I have a seen a lot of easily repairable MM's go to part out becuase of this. As a sidelight, damaged Marquis are really cheap.

Holy cheeseballs, that is a really nice Marauder. The slightly tinted tail lights with spoiler are ridiculously good looking, and the front is as new as can be. Jealous of your new ride..

And to think you were going to total it, or part it out. Good thing I was the first to suggest to buy back and repair that mo fo.

Where's the genius that says these cars aren't worth much even if they had low miles now?

What was charge for the Ingot finish?

I have a couple interior trim pieces to replace as well. Once I'm done it's going on the auction block.

Where's the genius that says these cars aren't worth much even if they had low miles now?

Well according to the first post in the thread the car had 135k when it was hit over 2 years ago. So the price for a possible salvage car with a color repaint isn't half what the seller is asking. No matter how much I like the color, which I really do, I don't see the difference between this car and a candy lime green Trilogy car with the same miles and title. Half the asking price, maybe a little more is a fair place to start.

He was offered a 3k mile SB for 16.5k, and took a pass, too much money? :shake:

Sorry for the de-rail, back to our regular scheduled sale, and I may add, the car for sale in this post is outstanding, wish I had the extra coin.

Where was that car listed? I would have been all over that.

The color is 2015 Ford Mustang Ingot Silver. I love it but it's staying in the garage at least for another month til it's dry out. :)

I'm bumping this because it's time to sell this thing. The car with spare longblock rebuilt original motor. Car has the Aluminator in it right now with a rebuilt Trilogy.
