OK, here goes.

I present “The Twins”.

Once upon a time………

I had been searching for a replacement to my 1998 CV. It was dying a slow death (passenger window, blend door) – I loved the car (128K miles) but I was itching to find a replacement.

I was looking through the Philadelphia Inquirer and classifieds while at a regional swim meet on August 8, 2010 when I found a dealer ad with a picture of a Black 2003 Marauder with 42K miles for $12.9K.

I could not believe my eyes. I never thought that I could get a Marauder for a price that was near what I was willing to pay for a CV or GM.
As it was a Sunday, I had to wait for the following day in order to call the dealer.

When I called, I asked the saleswoman if she could send me a picture of the car (as the ad had a “standard” pic). This is the picture that she sent to me (Really?!?!? – Who keeps the first picture that they’ve seen of their car?).

http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q684/marknsal/New%20Marauder%20Pics/2003MercuryMarauder_zpscb0e6b2 d.jpg

I could not believe it. It was the most beautiful car (that I could afford) that I had ever seen.

The saleswoman told me that a few people (along with someone from Michigan) were also interested in the car so I “Beat Feet” to check it out. All of my drooling over the car did not help me to try to bargain the price down (even after she told me that the price in the paper was a misprint – It was $13.9K). Still, I had to have it. It was mine that night – Full price (after the $1K for the CV).

I joined MM.net and met some of the greatest people that I’ve known.

Fast forward to November 2012.

There had been an ad in the local Craigslist for a 2003 Marauder with “Supercharged Turbo, 650 horsepower, Engine blueprinted, 19,000 miles” that I had been seeing for a few weeks. With that description, it sounded like a total scam.

Except for the picture of the Trilogy supercharger.

After about 3 weeks of watching this ad not go anywhere (and the price decrease), I called one night and spoke with the owner. It turned out that the car was 5 minutes from where I was when I called.

I checked out the car and it was the real deal (minus the turbo and blueprinting). I put down a deposit of $200 and scheduled to come back for a test drive. I bought the car after the test drive.

After I got the car, I received the certificate from Ford.

When I read the certificate, I saw that the black car was built on the same day as my SB – April 2, 2003. I thought that it was the coolest thing that I could imagine.

Then, I read further.

The Black is build number 7113.

My SB is build number 7114.

Hence, “The Twins”.

With the passing of one if the kindest members on this site we should make this Award of marauder of the month a Tribute to Rex . Change the name to SC chessehead's Tribute award to Marauder of the month .

Brad poneyup maybe you could take over again for the next voting for Dec . To keep this up and running .
