View Full Version : How to kill your car

When I broke my power supplier to the brake switch this gave me an idea. I hooked up a kill switch to the brake light switch right by the brake petal shaft... if you call it that.
So now, if anyone tries to steal the Marauder, they will not be able to get it out of gear. The only way to take it now is with a tow truck.
If you are worried about your car, hook up a kill switch to the brake lights. Yes this means you can kill the brake lights while driving.
There is your $13 piece of protection.
Where you mount the switch is your choice. I will not say where mine is, but I would advice something that does not stick out, stick to black too.

Why not just interrupt the shift interlock? Less chance of losing your brake lights and any other functions that rely on that signal to be there.
While your idea may be easy, I once heard someone say "if it was easy, everyone would be doing it".
What your doing may slow someone down, but a pro will get it if they want it, a wheel lift and a set of dollies are a wonderful thing, if you do the repo thing, or steal cars.

I thought you were going to say "let me drive it":P, seriously though, good idea. and to maraudermax: a lock only keeps the honest man honest.....the only way for someone to not steal your car is easy, don't own one.

all you have to do is press the shifter button hard and it will depress. then you can move it out of Park. you will probably end up breaking the button that way after doing that a few times.
If you're unable to move the shifter out of park because of a brake light problem and don't want to risk breaking the shifter button, do this:
with engine off put the key to 'ACC' position, move the shifter to Neutral, start the car, put it in Drive

As useless as you guys think the kill switch is for safety, you are forgetting the other feature.
Enjoy.

Other than people like me have in car cameras in our POV's, runs continuous and loops over prior video.
Also, after your car gets ass packed, and the data is retrieved from your DERM and PCM, you will be screwed pretty hard, as braking info, brake pressure, g force, g force braking, air bag deployment info, if your seat belts were buckled etc., is all data that will be used in a lawsuit against you for.
hehehehehehe, how to scam a insurance company..... total b.s. on a "family" site............:shake:

I'd never pull a scam or put anyone in danger like that. Ever.
When you know you need to slow down and you don't want to be noticed slowing down by... oh let's say a black and white car.... that's when you flip the switch.
Not to cause an accident or harm. If you want to do that, that's your choice, but I would even say that's a no-no.
You think I brake check people on the highway? LOL my bad rep doesn't come from me, it's from other's talking about me. So much fail in humanity.

So why do you only need to slow down when the police are around? Either slow down in general and quit putting others lives in danger, or take your lumps for speeding.
There is no reason to have a brake light kill other than to dick with people or break the law. Eventually, you will neglect to reactivate your lights and cause an accident, I hope no one dies from your mischievous. And, these are public forums, so when the prosecutor is reading your posts to the jury, it won't be so pretty.
Additionally, since you wired this in intentionally, should harm come to someone from a crash, the charges will go from misdemeanor vehicular homicide to agg murder, since you intentionally made this modification to your car.
Of course, I know none of this will ever happen to you, you are bulletproof, Teflon blah blah blah, I suggest you disconnect your "switch" before something tragic happens that you cannot un-do.

You bring up good points, very good points. The lesion learned is to not speak up about these things. Its best not to tell people more than they asked about.

Yup that's the lesson, you hit right on, just don't talk about it
Forget the fact that how you drive is dangerous
Exhibit A burnout on grass on Kentucky with 30 marauders around and a bunch of people outside of their cars, but your some kind of professional so no way anyone could get hurt, but a professional wouldn't do that
Exhibit B left hand turn going to hotel in Louisville, you gun it full throttle, very nearly lose control and almost hit on oncoming car
You're the classic of saying I know what I'm doing, no one got hurt, know your car blah blah blah
Doing things like killing your brake lights is dangerous, how you drive is dangerous, sooner or later it will catch up with you, I hope no one dies because of your need to show off everytime your behind the wheel.
It's one thing to do street kills or burnouts, I live in a glass house so I won't cast stones on that one
I've never hit triple digits in a street race, and I've never done half the stupid **** I've seen you do.
Knowing you, you'll say I'm not living and I baby the car and I'm not a real Marauder owner cause I lived in the burbs
Dom as you reach closer to 30, it's time to start thinking responsibly. Plan for taking care of your family, plan to keep the car you love so much running, plan for your future.
Dreams are great until you wake up in your 40s with no career, no car and no future because you've been asleep and dreaming for twenty years.
It's the best advice I can give you that I know you won't take, but I care for you and seeing you to continue playing the fool is heartbreaking

Brad, you aren't around me 24/7 bud, plus all that KY talk is from months ago... months. Your judgement is invalid. Nearly, everyones is. Not here, not me, but the only truth one will see is with their eyes.
Do you believe Sid killed Nancy? Did Courtney kill Kurt? Am I an irresponsible fool all the time? You don't know, you weren't there. Yet, choose to judge. Not just you, but everyone has a way of thinking that I do not think is fair judgement, nor there ever be.
So, those in glass houses should get a new kitchen. That makes as much since as an on-line judgement call.

Yep, on a shut down road. Big difference between "brake checking" people on the highway who don't know whats coming.
You can say whatever about "so the cops don't see you speeding" answer me this, if your speeding, and you see a cop, where are they generally? In front of you or behind you? The way you make it sound, it is that they are in front of you, do you have brake lights on the front of you car?
We can read between the lines "hehehehehehe" and we know what your doing "having fun" on the highway, I hope your "fun" doesn't cost someone their life.

Brad
I appreciate your comments. You have hit the nail in the head, in my opinion - though Dom will claim it is an uniformed decision because I do not know him.
Truth be told, I think he is a menace on the highway. He is going to brake check someone and be is going to get hurt and when the cops find the kill switch, Dom will be held liable. Dom may argue that the cops will not have probable cause ... But that would be an uniformed arguement.
Dom
You say it was months ago that you did he dumb stuff that Brad is referring to. Really, months change you ... I don't buy it. You sit here and tell the same stupid stories over and over. You ned longer than months to convince me (nd probably others) that you are not brake checking people or putting other people's life at risk. I remember a story of you running from the cops and putting your car in a parking lot to avoid them. Same crap ...
You will not listen to us telling you to grow up. Maybe you never will but for your sake, I hope you do. Your stupidity is going to hurt someone.
Also, have you ever considered someone taking these posts of yours and forwarding them to local PD or the state attorneys office? The fact that you had a smog shop perform the illegal smog on your car ... The fact that you have this kill switch you use to evade a ticket ... Just saying, you might want to consider the crimes you admit to on an open forum.
It would be a shame if your words got you thrown in trouble with the law.

Your right Dom, I'm not around you 24/7 but saying you haven't done something stupid behind the wheel in months, us completely invalid.
Your reputation is not built on what others are saying about you, you alone are responsible for your own reputation. What people are saying, in many cases is based on the stupid things they have seen you do. Graduating from that for "months" is not a long enough time period to say you are over doing stupid things in your car, exhibit A a brake light kill switch.
It's dangerous anyway you slice it, you can control your actions, you can't control the 30 cars doing 70mph behind you, which is why it's illegal to drive without functioning brake lights.
Soapbox done. I've done my best to help you, I've offered the best advice I can in hopes that as you grow older you may actually become an adult.
You have a wonderful heart and a kind soul and a unique way of finding the best in most situations. If you could find a way to pair those qualities with being an adult, it should make for quite a high quality person that I am hopeful to meet one day.
Until then you will have to learn life's lessons on your own as your resistance to heed advice from those that have come before you and have the experiences that made them who they are is obviously going nowhere.
May those lessons not be too harsh, that is all I have to say about it
