Left my car sitting for 2 days with about 300 lbs of stuff in it (moved to nc). Come back to get the car and about 5 minutes down the road notice my air suspension light on. Had my wife pull next to me and the car seemed at a normal level so I continued driving approx 3 hours.get to the house, unload everything and car goes back to normal level. Get back in the car to day and the same thing happens, this time accompanied with harsh ride since I wasn't on the freeway. Noticed car was bottomed out in the rear so I drove it home and started researching. Found the Lincoln troubleshooting page for air ride and found even with pins 30 and 87 jumpered on the air suspension relay under the hood (#303)compressor would not cut on so I'm looking for replacements, am I safe in assuming it's the compressor and not the module??

Could be a bad pump or a bad connection elsewhere.
Where in N.C. did you move to?

Well put in different compressor, not new but a different one and same results, compressor wont turn on, thinking maybe the module? Its sounds the same as if the compressor starts to turn on but doesnt kick the pump on same as last......:(

Giving up already? The air suspension is one of the premium features of the car. Most on this board would recommend fixing it.
Your car though.

Check the relay under the hood if you haven't already.....they tend to self destruct over time!!
My AC compressor one and the air suspension one have been replaced for the same "no run" or intermittent problems!!
Good Luck in "Earnhardtville"!!

I replaced the relay yesterday with a brand new one from AutoZone, but haven't tried it yet, switch is still off in the trunk, but I will tonight since I have the weekend off and don't have to drive the car in the morning
I wanted to go to pull a part in Charlotte on Sunday to see if I could snatch another module, which years would work with our cars? Read a couple things about there being either 2 or 4 connectors on it??

Is the new compressor you tried brand new or did you pull it from a junk yard? Did you know that the new compressor worked before you hooked it up in your car?

Not to get too far off topic here, but . . .
What are you doing buying a used air compressor that somebody replaced with a new one? Surely it didn't get removed and replaced because it was in brand-new perfect working order. These things do wear out after ten years.
It never ceases to amaze me what car parts people will buy used or from a junkyard. A fender, sure. But parts that wear? Foolishness and money down the drain that could have gone towards new parts that aren't already worn out.
Look here for some places to check on your air suspension problem: http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showpost.php?p=1345655&postcount=5

The compressor clicks but doesn't run the pump, sorry for the confusion

1 - Check the switch in the trunk. It may be turned off especially if you have had work done recently.
2 - Check the height sensor on the Watts link first. They are known to freeze up or the arms might pop off.
3 - Check all the connections.
4 - Check all the fuses and circuit breakers
Fuse panel:
#16 - 15A (Hot in Run)
Battery Junction Box:
# 114 - 30A (Hot at all times)
# 303 - Relay (switch it with # 304 to test)
5 - Check if there is power at the air compressor connector - with the key on there should be power to the pink wire and the gray/red wire. You should check the ground connections at the two black wires.
Let us know what you find.
1. Switch works
2. Checked out height sensor. Arm was still connected but made a clicking sound when moved all the way right.
3. Checked compressor connector, module connectors, and height sensor connector. All appeared fine.
4. No fuses were blown. Switched 303 with 304 and also bought new from autozone
5. Battery voltage on pink, not on grey/red. Black wires check good for ground

Got old pump to run in vehicle for about 10 secs so I'm guessing it was the compressor after all

we did the air suspension delet on a 99 gm with good result except cant clear the trouble code, even dummied resistance to the solenoid connectors. computer continues to give up code a few minutes into driving. havent had time to do anymore troubleshooting.

I think the light has to do with something with the rear switch. Ive seen instructions somewhere, might have been an installation instructions d/l from arnott industries.

yea read through it somewhere, have to splice some module wires somewhere so it doesnt trigger the light

ask him for a refund, if he honors it:good people. if he doesnt: put a post up against buying from him......i had a php intake spacer sent to me, looked like somebody from fed-ex used it as a frisbee, the seller refunded my money, i had it flattened out for free from a machinist at northrop grumann where i was working, for free.....i sent the guy back the refunded money.
