...you likely will need to "burp the system." I had this issue, but I knew it was due to lack of anti-freeze due to playing with my sensor and COT.
So before you take it to a dealer and they charge you $$$ to top the thing off, take 10 minutes of your own time to burp your system. Your heat will be back.

Correct... or it can be the EATC or BCM.

I cannot find the info so here is my version of it....
1. Make sure the car is off and cool. You can do this while hot, but be warned, you will be burned if the liquid get's to you on a hot engine.
2. Unscrew the anti-freeze jug.
3. Unscrew the cap on your Cross Over Tube. You will need a tool for this.
4. Put the plastic cap back on the anti-freeze jug.
5. Poor anti-freeze into the space in the COT that you took off.
6. Poor until the system over flows.
7. Once it over flows, put the cap back on.
8. Start the car.
You should be done.
Repeat if necessary.
This info could be a little off, but this is what solved my problem.

Good grief I never bothereed with all that palaver, I just filled the reservior, filled the crossover tube, ran it untill the thermostat opened, topped off the crossover tube, job done. A couple hundred miles later topped of the reservior and haven't touched it in the 3000 miles since.

You were lost at birth. Reread what Dom wrote; Steps 4 & 5. Then turn in your man card before I boot you out the door. Easy enough for you now. :banghead:

How about my 2010 Ford Fusion Sport is now having the same problems with heat as the Marauder did two years ago. Just how many Chinese parts did Ford use in their product lines?

Just a word(s) of advice. When you remove the COT plug, change the O-ring every time. They seize up because the coolant leeches up into the threads. The O-ring is a 9/16 ID, 11/16 OD and 1/16 Thickness O-ring. If you try to use a thicker O-ring when you put the plug in it will shave some of the side of the O-ring off and it will later seize or seep antifreeze. May take a few places to find the correct size O-ring.
By the way, the OEM plug was discontinued by Ford a few months ago. There are still a few out on dealer shelves since they fit 90's Continentals and Marks and Cobras. The part number is F3LY-8A500-A. Part name is a "Cap". I pull them when I see them in the Pickapart yards and clean them and put new O-rings on them. And yes, the anti-seize on the threads is a must-do as well. Also, clean the inside of the COT where the O-ring seals, a rough surface can chew up a new O-ring.
A tip when screwing the cap on is to turn it by hand until you feel the O-ring contact the inside bevel. Then rock the cap back a forth slightly while turning it down and you will feel the O-ring slide in. The anti-freeze on the COT is usually enough lubricant for the O-ring.
Just my .02 worth..

Or...... you could buy one from lji372 (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/member.php?u=14855) , he actually manufactures them himself, can engrave them or offer them in black if you choose, plus..... he makes a stainless oil dipstick pull too. They are usually on hand and a waiting period is unheard of with Jerry.:D

FYI: you crack me up
I also put a light layer of grease on the o'ring before installing to help prevent it from being shaved off.
