Hi All. My MM is the first new car I ever owned. Prior to that I was in an Impala SS. Currently I have 245,000 miles on it. Driven hard every day as it was meant to be driven. My motto in buying cars was if it's good enough for the police to drive, It's gotta be able to withstand my abuse. For the ppl in Jersey, it's a Silver Birch with a wing on the back. I left this car bone stock. From day one, I have used Mobil 1. I'm a firm believer in synthetics as I'm a Porsche technician by trade. That aside, this is the best vehicle I have ever owned, hands down! At 150,00 miles I had to change the ignition coils. At 175,000 miles I had to change the trans fluid for the first time. (Trans fluid lost it's friction capabilities and gave me a shutter between shifts.(Fluid was still red as day one.)
Here is the list of parts that I have changed over the course of my ownership.

Radiator at 125K
Axle seals at 135K
Alternator 2 times (don't get the Chinese rebuilts)
Brakes and rotors (2 times)
Driver seat heater
Wiper motor. (Clean your Plenum of leaves)
Air suspension compressor at 90K
Rear Shocks at 197K
4 windshields. (Trucks kicking up stones) 225.00 installed
Crank sensor 225,000 miles
BTW, only one check engine light that ever came on was for the EGR valve at 200K.
NOT TOO BAD FOR A CAR THAT HAS BEEN DRIVEN HARD FROM DAY ONE!!!!!

I'll be changing the front rear lower control arm bushings soon as I hear a clunk when braking. ( Bushings are torn)

The only thing that I could ever complain about the Mercury Maruder is the availability of OEM tires. Currently, I have Porsche Cayenne tires on the rear.

Speaking of tires.......Can I just get a Crown Vic or Or Grand Marquis ABS module so I can have all my tires the same size????????? Or can the dealer reflash my ABS module so it thinks it a Crown vic?

Before the mm you had a chevy you learned.if it does not have t/c tire size does not matter abs does not care. I have same size on two of mine the 04 with t/c you have to turn off ever time you start. You will have to correct speedo with a tuner.

Welcome to the site, fellow NJ'er. You just missed our latest gathering at Englishtown last weekend. Fear not, there will be more. Check the Northeast forum from time-to-time for upcoming events.

Another silver?? I thought those things were rare?!? --> :D

T/C can not be turned off by a computer flash. If you want tires the same size then you would have to get in the habit of turning it off each time you start the car. (Actually a few members do this) And for tires there are better choices out there for OEM size than the BFG. Cooper RS3A, Nitto Motivo, Firestone Firehawk, All have OEM sizes avail. and good reviews from the members here

Go with the Motivo's...I just replaced my front BFG's with them. I like em better...

Oops, Forgot I did the LCM fix with the micro relay. Worked like a charm. Thanks to whoever came up with that fix.

Back to my question about the Crown Vic ABS module.......When I had the Impala SS without T/C tire size did matter when it came to staggering tires, ABS does care about the rolling circumference at each wheel.

I'm going to assume T/C was an option for a Crown Vic? Being that all the reluctor wheels at our ABS sensors are the same circumference, My thought process says everything is done by the ABS module. I was just wondering if anyone has ever tried it or compared ABS modules from a Vic to a MM? If not, when I get some spare time and coin I'll give it a try.

Sorry if I'm beating this one to death but it's been a peeve of mine since Feb 04.

ABS is ok unless change is extreme. My fronts were shot (typical inside wear) and before putting new fronts on I thought I'd have some fun & burn the old fronts up. Rotated F to R and oh boy, the ABS did not like that! I had brake light and ABS light a flashin & spazzing and ABS kicking in when braking! Rotated back and all was well again. Was bummed I couldn't use T242 for some billowing clouds of tire smoke!
