View Full Version : Marauder Sacked
According to Autoweek march 29 2004 the Marauder will end production in June. A two year run. They will be collectors or they will be dirt cheap??

Well, here is one way to look at it. Mercury don't make them anymore....so it is up to us not to give them away cheap, anyway you slice it, they are unique.

Hi B-26---did you fly the "Flying Prostitute" --she was a widow-maker until a WASP--Women's Air Service Pilot--showed them how to fly them--I personally know her and she has pictures to prove her low pass with one feathered !!! at Mc Dill AFB in the 40's--I flew B-25s and P-51s and a few others. One a day in Tampa bay.
The engines were too close together. Cool looking plane tho. My uncle flew in one sates side during WWII on sub patrol over the Atlantic. He broke his arm in a ball game one day and was grounded. The next day his plane and the entire crew were lost at see. Guess it was his one lucky break.

Don't know how well they'll hold value... Especially with every manufacturer and their dog doing a RWD revival... Yeesh... Average mentality will be, "Oh...Don't sell the marauder anymore? Ok, I'll go buy that new caddy CTS-V"...
...which by the way... Hmmm... 400hp and a 6 speed in a caddy, that'd make a nice daily driver... I wonder if www.cadilacctsv.net (http://www.cadilacctsv.net) is registered yet... :) Hmmmm...

Logan is your occupation running web sights? If so, do you buy each vehicle?

No, I'm an Oracle DBA, Unix/Linux Systems engineer by trade. The website thing is nothing but a hobby. I own/operate mercurycougar.net and mercurymarauder.net
Generally, yes, If I put the website up, it's because I've got one in the garage, or have had one at one point. No point putting up a website if you can't speak intelligently on the subject... ;)

I've seen and read about the CTS-V. 400hp is nice but you have to remember that's a 50K vehicle base price. And its a small vehicle. I wouldn't mind trying one on to see how quick off the line they are.

All I know is, Brembo's, a readily mod-friendly LS6, 400hp, a six speed and 4 doors is pretty damn good in my book... Not too impressed with the $50k sticker, but hey, it's a caddy, whaddya expect?
Will I be rushing out to buy one? No... Wish I could afford to have one in my garage alongside the rauder? Absolutely.

Its a great car but is smaller than one would think. As good of a value as it is compared to an M5 I think the MM is that good of a value compared to the CTS-V, the best part of the Caddy is the Chevy engine, the rest is questionable. (OK maybe not the brakes)

Cadillac is running two of these cars in the Speed World Challenge GT this year and they positively kicked ass at Sebring two weeks ago. They ran away from Audi A6Ss, Corvettes, Porsche 911s, BMW M3s, and Andy Pilgrim came from the back of the grid to finish second behind his teammate Max Angelleli. While the cars are supposed to be production based they looked very prototype to me. The engine for example, was further back and lower in the car than ANY production car I have ever seen. I don't know how the production car is, but these race cars are stinking FAST.

Logan,
You might not want to talk too much about the CTS-V around here.
TAF might catch wind of it and give you the same verbal lashing he gave me when I posted about the CTS-V here last Spring.
LOL.

I personally think the 300C might whet everybody's appetite when it comes to full size RWD performance cars.
By the way, I am enjoying my new Cadillac SRX. Trying to forget about the 2 new camshafts that were put in on Monday though.
