So I know that our gauges are dummies and are their for basically show, I figured the same for mine. Starting to think otherwise though. The other day I notice my oil pressure jumping around and is reacting to when I touch the throttle. How can I tell if mine is actually functional and and I'm not crazy is their a pressure it sits at while in idle and driving that would confirm its actually working properly
As always thanks in advance

Cold idle =100psi
Warm idle= 25psi
Normal driving =55-75psi
If your gauge is not reaching any of these numbers, its a factory dummy. It will also sweep pretty fast where as the stock one was a slow sweep.

Stock one normally reads at 75 PSI and that's it unless you have no oil in the engine.

How can I tell if mine is actually functional Unless you or a previous owner replaced the gauge and the sender, yours is not functional. One way to tell is to look at the sender...if it looks like a brass cylinder about 2" around and 3" long, then it's a real one.
I suspect you might have a bad switch (the factory part is not really a sender).

Perfect time to upgrade to the real oil psi gauge.

So what is the preferred oil pressure gauge set up to look like OEM?

Auto meter ultra lite. Don't know the number off the top of my head but it is common. Amazon search it and that's the one lol.

Replacement Gauges – Autometer (2 1/16)
Oil Pressure – 4327 includes sending unit – 2242
Voltmeter – 4391
Just replace the gauges, swapping faces is time consuming and your likely to damage the unit.
Replace both gauges as the OEM are lite different and it will be apparent if you only replace one.
I'd also replace the bulbs with green LEDs.

I will be replacing the Voltmeter with a Boost gauge :burnout:

Actually will be getting the Voltmeter with my S/C kit so I am SET! Except for maybe the LEDs.
