View Full Version : Addco rear sway bar
Hi folks.
I think I might have jumped the gun. I put in a new addco rear
sway bar and I also wanted to put in a FRP diff cover.
im worried the car might hit the bar. Any
input would be appreciated

I can't verify for sure that my diff cover is FRP, but i've got a girdled cover and addco bar and haven't run into any problems. Now, to be fair, they were both on the car when I got it, but i've had no problems and there was no mention of problems from the seller, and he was a straight up guy.

I have an aftermarket diff cover and Addco swaybar..... no interference isues.
For some odd reason the sway bar is pretty close. Got me worried.
any body have a recommendation for a diff girdle?

Yes it's close but you wouldn't have any problems. Amazon has a few. Got one for less than $100.00, included a gasket (don't use it, use silicone sealer) and bolts. Also has the bearing cap supports. Hint: remove the bearing cap screws and use teflon tape to seal them.

I have a Mag hy-tec rear diff cover which hit my Addco sway bar, the fix was to get shorter sway bar links to pull the bar away from the cover.

My FRP girdle & Adco rear sway bar fit fine together. :)

This is an area that warrants attention. I had interference issues with my stock cover, Addco tubular sway bar (admittedly different from what many here run), and a slight lowering of the rear end.
I had horrible, bouncy ride quality because the sway bar contacting the rear cover served as a bump stop when the suspension compressed.
Every bar/cover/height combination is different. To check unbolt the end links and pivot the sway bar down to see how much travel you have before it hits.
I used Energy Suspension 9.8117, which are considerably shorter than stock. 9.8118, 1/2" longer, might work better for stock height cars.

Ive heard the gt500 diff cover needs to be modified to make the addco sway bar fit.

My car is lowered and made contact with my FR cover like mentioned by others. The ride was absolutely horrible. I bought 1" lateral locks from Jegs to keep it centered better, as well cut an inch or so off the spacer on the Energy Suspension end links thus lowering the bar enough to clear.
