What ever happened to the possibility of someone acquiring the mold for the rear bumper and starting up production? Wasn't there also talk about someone sticking a boot up Ford's butt to talk them into letting the aftermarket stamp Marauder on them?

At MV9 Steve Babcock said he would to look into why Ford in general cancelled production of Marauder spare parts long before the government mandate. Think the government says 10 years give or take but Ford obviously found a loophole. Never heard if Steve made any progress.

I'm debating pulling my rear cover, sending it out to get refinished and using a CV cover in its place for the winter. After it is restored, have a mold made and produce a fiberglass replica with a gel coating for my "personal use" in case of emergencies.

Still like my idea of getting a CV bumper and carving out Marauder in it and lighting it up...may do that come spring...

At MV11, Steve said he knows where is the stamping equipment. He was going to talk with someone who knows someone who might be interested in making more.
Also, he apologized for choosing a plastic that sags over time.

That's what I hate.....the sag. And pulling it and putting shims under where the tail lights are will probably just distort the rest of the bumper. I want a new one.

I believe boatmagic is having success with shims.
I believe he had a good write up on it as well.

Interesting. I thought Ford would not allow the use of the Marauder name to the aftermarket. I'm a little skeptical on this.

I was surprised also to see the letters actually engraved, may get sued. I know their was a company that had made a few aftermarket 03-04 cobra rear bumpers and ford put an end to it quick. I wouldn't see myself paying that much for an aftermarket bumper anyway, would of posted the link sooner just thought everyone knew about it. Good thing a local junkyard here has 2 decent/repairable rear bumpers if i ever need another

He may have said it again at MV11 but I know he was asked a our dinner table at MV9 to look into it and he said he would. I'm sure he's busy and it slips his mind.
When he finally gets his 2004 JPB MM he will burn some ears at Ford about spares.

Cool...wasn't doubting about MV9; since I was at both MV9 and MV11 and I remember him addressing the issue in ATL, was just trying to keep it straight in my not-so-straight mind...
A bit discouraging, though, that it was brought up 2 years ago and again this year and the response to the same question was the same...:depress:

I don't expect them to PRODUCE it. I expect them to quit protecting their trademark on a name they will most likely never use again and let the aftermarket produce it for a small fee.

Close to 20yrs working for Ford I can tell you guys they wont make a exception to produce more seen it before on other cars. As Ford letting copy rights be infringed it's not gonna happen to them that name is theres & they will always keep it as it can generate future$$$$$ possibly.
Also someone made mention about Ford no longer making some MM parts. Federal law only applies to safety & emissions only & nothing else. Ive seen many cars that were not that old with same situation. Much as it bites Iam gonna say this is the way it is & it isnt gonna change unfortunately:depress:.

As with anything the price should go down the more orders you get.

Once in a lifetime to get that kit!!
I want too but....
Price will be a big factor even if all the members were in on a group buy and need approval from Trilogy.

Well that thread from 09 tells me it went no where. Jerry was willing to discuss at least. Seems like I saw a # on kit from Jerry & it was super high. But I do agree if enough interest should factor in to profit per kit. Only part I really liked was the frt bumper.

I thought about it, till I researched fiberglass bumpers.

No, Please no fiberglass. Reason being it has quite a few diff problems that could arise. The #1 reason over all others is it's rigid/stiffness. It would likely become a spider web mess of cracks. Theres a reason Corvettes (the all fiberglass veh) has urethane bumpers. Look at them ricers they put them all fiberglass body kits on most I see are most times a cracked up nightmare.
