Maybe stock G-Force fronts and Comp T/A ZR rears... :D
These combinations may work for those wanting the widened rear rims. :D

HMMMMMM, interesting. The second one looks pretty good to me, and would be a good size for the widened rim for street use. I think that on the street would be best since it isn't a drag radial and probably wouldn't be as good for the track as a Drag radial would be.

If I was going to go with the widenend rims, it was more for looks with some mild drag strip racing. I'm sure that a drag radial would be best but a wider tire would be better than the stock size. :D
If the would only make the second in 255/45-18 with a matching 295/45-18, the combo would be nice. :)

Yeah, I agree on that. BFGoodrich seems to make some nice tires alright. But I guess that like some other tire companies, they haven't yet caught up to our needs yet. I guess that's just one of the draw backs to having 18" mags.

The KDW-2, provided the stock rear rim is wide enough, w/ the KDW 255/55-18 on the rear appears to work out to keeping our stance and an excellent summer tire combo.
For me the problem with the OEM tires is there "all-season", i.e. snow, rated which means not very good at any season.

You mean it's a "Jack of all trades, and master of none" tire, uh? That would also describe the majority od most new cars these days that list for under 50K.

Well you can see by my signature that I always like the BFG Comp T/A tread pattern. It has remained basically unchanged (even the new ZR) for many years, which is a little surpriseing.
That said I've been very happy with it on the panter platform for many years.

I got these from BFG...seems like the retailers don't have them yet or have announced prices. I'm assuming they will be comperable to other tires of the same size along with the price range of the current sizes available.
They are aiming for these to be released this summer. Hopefully they'll also release more sizes....I love the tread pattern of the KDW-2's. :D

Tread-wise, this one looks surprisenly like the o' GoodYear GaterBacks ( circa mid-1980 ).

Any updates on this? I will be buying tires this summer. Rears for sure, fronts maybe.
Will any of these fit the stock rear rim?
Thanks,

My thoughts exactly. The GatorBack was my first "performance" tire.

Quote: "The Firehawk SZ50 EP with UNI-T AQ™ offers relentless consistency. With UNI-T AQ technology, you can count on wet performance excellence as the tread wears down. Whether the pavement’s wet or dry, whether the temperature’s hot or cool—the ultra-high extended performance Firehawk SZ50 EP with UNI-T AQ is there for you!"
Not much choice in the 18" as Bridgestone is moving to their brand and slowly phasing out a lot of Firehawk sizes. Also look at the Potenza S-03 Pole Position as it seems to be the same tire as the Firehawk. Consumer Reports did an extra test last November to verify their claims.
This Potenza tire redefines ultra-high performance. With the evolution of UNI-T® and UNI-T AQ™ to UNI-T AQII, the Potenza S-03 Pole Position reaches the peak of performance in both wet and dry conditions. And, it keeps performance up as the tread wears down. Engineers have also reduced the noise factor in new and worn stages. Driving enthusiasts will admire the unique tread and sidewall design inspired by the Bridgestone Potenza racing rain tire.
I have some 9,000 miles on Firehawks on my 350hp supercharged T-bird and it is the only tire that I could not break loose until about 7,000 miles.
Don't buy them if you like making a lot of noise by spinning your wheels and smoking your tires as it won't happen with Firehawks.

For widened rims, two of my preferred choices are from my Lightning Days... The stock Lightning tire, The Goodyear Eagle F1 GS is pretty capable and decent tread life with a treadwear of 300...

For longer tread life and relatively decent grip, and cool looks, The Toyo Proxes S/T worked great with a treadwear of 400... The proxes lasted 20k miles for me.
The goodyears are a bit softer and I got about 12k out of them...Both are 295/45/18's...
