Finally, I made it to the somewhat local 1/8 mile track (1 hour ride). Never in my life have a ran a car at the track. Damn, that was fun! And, Damn, this car is fast (to me)!:D I only ran three passes. I didn't want to push my luck with RescuRauder.:o But, overall, a great experience! What was wierd was I had a terrible time with second gear traction. :burnout: It wasn't a chirp but an amazing amount of tire spin from 1st to 2nd shift. More than the stock 2013 5.0 manual car that was there shifting into second! So, despite trying to keep the throttle to the floor, I found myself (subconsciously) backing off somewhat at the top end. :shake: :dunno: I don't usually run the car like WOT much past 60 mph anyway. Must be habit. I know these times are terrible, but the SOTP feel was awesome. I just have to practice holding it all the way through. :bop1:

So, I wound up running:
1st pass: RT: 0.6355
60ft: 2.3441
330ft: 6.5076 (after 2nd shift, backed off & it shifted to 3rd)
1/8th: 10.4229
MPH: 57.65
2nd pass: RT: 0.7580
60ft: 2.4667
330ft: 6.7445
1/8th: 10.2651
MPH: 69.58
3rd pass: RT: 0.8049 (took a quick nap, lol)
60ft: 2.3236
330ft: 6.6090
1/8th: 10.0891
MPH: 71.55

Stupid question: do the reaction times factor into all other times (ie. 60ft 330ft and 1/8th total)?

reaction time does not effect 60 foot etc. reaction time is the time it takes you /car to react to light turing green. You could sit there for 5 seconds and run the the same time (ET) as if you had a perfect reactiontime. It does however effect winning and losing if racing

R/T does not factor into the ET number, but does count for the win light if you are actually racing someone.

Thanks! I was figuring that might be a quick solution to getting my times better. So, I guess the only way to better the times is learn how to launch the car, traction (of course) and staying on the pedal (duh). Do you think I loose much with the tire spin in second? One tenth, two tenths...?

I was launching with foot on the brake and as much gas as I could hold before the car started moving. I should have looked at the RPM then, but I was too excited to pay attention to small details like that, lol.

Yes the best way to gain a lot of time would be to get that 60' under 2.0. I am actually kinda surprised it spun hard on the 1-2 shift with your power level. When your current tires wear out and you get new tires, if you get a bit better tire then you should be good to go.

Yep, SUPRISED the heck outa me! :drive:We're talking spinnin' not chirpin' with some wiggle! :burn: I guess I never really noticed before since I don't drive it that hard on the street. Normally, under daily driving, I have the TC on. So, if I'm under moderate/hard acceleration it will still do more than chirp, but, nothing like last nite.

The stock BFG's in the rear are down to the wear bars in the middle. I've read that a lot of guys on launching off idle. Maybe I can try that too.

Thanks! Get out there and have fun! I can't believe I waited this long. But, thanks to some peer pressure, I finally did it! I can see how addicting this could be!:P

I just watched a couple of the video's my son took. It was definitely a bit more than a second (but not two seconds) of tire spin from the 1-2 shift (using the ole thousand one thousand two counting technique). With that stuff they put on the track I did not expect that much spin (it was like glue, but I am sure you all already know that). I would try to post one of the videos, but, he took them with his I Phone and the videos don't play back right on my computer. However, the sound track plays perfect. You can definitely hear the 1-2 spin in the audio of the video (just so ya'll know I am not exaggerating).

I also think in the next couple weeks, it should really cool down, weather wise. It was probably 75-80 degrees when we ran with a bit of Florida humidity too. So, I think I will give it another try in a couple weeks to get into the 9's. ;)
