I have seen it before on other peoples MM's. Not sure why it happens though.

The SilverStar cornering lights are what a lot of members here run instead of OEM. they have a slight bluish tint when off but give an amazing amber hue when they turn on. Of course I'm not sure if they are still avail.....

^^^ I'm thinking he means the side marker light/turn signal bulb. Mine were both peeling off when I got my car earlier this year, and I replaced them. I would "assume" that the ones that peel are amber coated and not amber glass.

Sylvania discontinued manufacture of the SilverStar turn signal bulbs a few years ago, but a quick search of both AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts web sites shows them listed as in stock at my local stores. If true, that's good news and I'm going to stock up again.
If you can't find SilverStars, what you want is a 3157NA, which has amber glass not just a coloured coating.

It bugs me too! You have to blow the old flakes out with an air nozzle or remove the lens housing and shake them out, then install new ones. The old bulbs from years ago were dipped, the new ones have a film which dries out and flakes when they get old.

Mine Fell and Flaked into the lens cavity so What I had to do was that the whole light assembly out hooked up the vacuum/Dry vac to the opening and it got most of all of it out .
