Anyone here gutted their marauder block and put all cobra internals in it?

Or does it only need cobra rods being that ours can't handle much

I just replaced everything with forged parts.

Cheaper to just buy a Cobra reman longblock. Theres more then just the rods. Forged pistons, forged crank etc. with labor & parts cost, cost for Machining youre existing block & etc. Only thing to keep in my mind it is only a 8.5:1 Compression motor. So could give you a good excuse to get boosted if not already.

What I need to machine the block for?

I'm looking for only internals that'll hold power it can be pulled apart at the shop. Filled with forged parts and bolted right back up. Compression doesn't matter will be a boosted or nitrous car anyway

You need to machine the block and crank (even if it is just a cylinder hone and a crank polish) so that the new bearings and rings can ride on/along a true surface. Otherwise, even the slightest imperfection can cause premature ring or bearing failure (=engine failure!). So, having it machined is cheap insurance to make sure you don't have to do it all over again (especially, if you are going with boost or nitrous).

Depends on how much power you want to push if you need a forged crank or not. For around 600ish (at the fly) a stock cast one is actually OK.

Youre car! If youre comfortable with assuming block is perfect & dont mind the possibility that all the new parts you bought could be ruined due to something on block. Theres already to many things that can happen especially pushing boost.
If you are ok w/lower compression & plan to boost it youre best option is a reman cobra long block. any of the long timers here would agree.

Although if $$ isnt a concern Theres alot of diff options out there.

Yea I agree with BODYMAN, Modulars are not a blocks you can "slap" together. They have really tight and precise clearances, your recipe is one of disaster. If you don't have $$$ to do it right then don't do it until you're ready.
