Hankook Ventus ST RH06 295/45/18 to match my Hankook fronts

too wide for the rim?

Might fit but your pushing your luck on an 8" wheel. 265 is comfortable but any wider and I'd think about widening the wheel.

I was running Hankook 295/45/18 on stock rims for a while, no issue.

 Were they the ones I'm looking at Ventus ST RH06 ? did you like them?

I have Hankook Evo V12 all around now, but short rears 255/45/18, I'd like to go with stock or taller rear tires. Wider is a plus.

thanks

Ran 285 x 50's for 2 years, then a year ago I changed to the tire You are talking about, I like them, the deal is what you give up on weight, you gain on traction.

Been running 295,s for a long time & never have issues. It is in fact the largest tire you can run on stock rim.

Excellent news, thanks all for the replies.
I was ready to settle on 265/50/18, same basic height, less width. But only Nitto has them.
I'll rn the 295 now because I like the old school big/little tire look ;)

Here are a few shots I took with the truck about a year ago. I forgot to add, that this is with an inch cut out of the front springs, and 255 x 45 x 18's on the front.

iwas about to order 265-50-18 myself nitto 555 and glad I didn't....

I also like the biggg tire in back and smaller in front..but also want something bigger than stock to fill the wheel wells better

I wanted the biggest I oculd go without issues just didn't think a lot of members ran this size but now I see they have :banana2:

so im going to order the nitto 295 for rear and already have new nitto 255-45-18 on front so gonna look sweet and now wish I did the 265-50-18 in front...

im guessing that would have been biggest on front and back combo without issues but im gonna be fine with the 255-45 on front for now my next set will be 265-50 fronts

no pics yet I just ordered them today...I had to pay off my 4 255-45-18 nittos right.....then ordered the 295-45-18

I going to use the 255-45 one for my spare full size and one spare

I only got these 4 bec they had all 4 in stock and NEEDED tires ASAP was a safety issue and they only had 295-45 in stock on wedsite my work goes thru :shake:......

but should have them in and time at work next work to put them bad boys on and I CANNOTT wait to get them big boys on...

also my rauder is a daily and the nitto 555 aren't AS BAD as I thought would be in snow since there a high performance radial and not a summer or snow tire butt.....was taking it slow but these thing stick to dry pavement better than any other tire I have ever drove on...a hugeee upgrade over the stock bf Goodrich I had on there

So... Getting bigger rims is frowned upon... But getting big ass tires is smiled upon?....
Someone just go ahead and throw some mud boggers on their car and award them marauder of the month already.

I would widen the rim if I had the resources.
But mounted, I don't see excess sidewall bulge = just fit in my opinion.

Sweet ride ;)

Mine fit about exactly the same, I'll try and get pics tomorrow (weather).
Looks a little much in the front of the wheel well, but overall - I love them.

My first Marauder came with 285/50/18's. They wore like ass and the back end had so much wabble it was like being on bias-ply slicks at times. My last few years in motorsports have taught me wheel size is very important if you want the tire to deliver all it can. Personally I wouldn't run anything past a 265/50/18 on an 8" wide wheel. Otherwise the fatter tire is going to cost more, wear in the middle, and not be used for its full potential. 275-285 9" wheel. Past that 10-11.

For what its worth my 04 which runs a much faster 60' and ET than my 03 did. It has 255's to the 03's 285's. Also when the 285's were dead. The outside tread was almost factory depth.

Can you do it? sure. Will it help traction? not by much and it will waste money. Your dollars!

I will appreciate if anyone of you running 290s can post a picture. I am currently running stock size 245 iirc . Now I am interested to see how they look! Thanks!

Are you interested in how they drive, or just in how they look?

I have my Nitto 295-45-18's on OEM rims. Only a little bulge, looks ok and seem to perform OK. Put new MT 305-45-18 drag radials on the widened factory rims.

295/45 18s really need to be on 9.5 - 10" wheels , i mounted a set on oem 8" wheels some years back it looked ok , but it didn't handle as well as that size tire should on the correct size wheels.

^this. I started this thread waaaayy back, mounted 294/45 on my stock rims and immediately feel the wobble. More air pressure helps, but 9.5-10" rim width is required to prevent sidewall flex. Learned. ;)
