View Full Version : Adding LS to an open 9.75?

Anyone have first hand knowledge if this is simply swapping the spiders and adding clutches? Or even just the splined adapters the side spiders are pressed onto? Or is the whole carrier cast differently? Slayer Dave, where are you? :) Lost your number bro. :(

Bob, i dont know much about this rear other then it was behind the 5.4 trucks. from what ive herd about it is thats its basically a baby sterling (10.25). i dont really know much else about it, ive never had one.

An open carrier (regardless of type) will not accept Limited Slip Clutches. You need a specifically designed carrier and side gears.

The 9.75 is in Expeditions and some F-150s from 97 on. Also in the bastard 7-lug F250 from 97. Many of them had LSD rears, so finding the correct unit in a u-pick it yard shouldn't be too difficult.

Nope they don't just accept the gear and clutches....gotta change out the whole deal...
