Have any of you guys painted your side trim pieces black, or put on black ones in lieu of the silver originals?
My old '91 LX had factory black all around, and I noticed a beautiful late-model black GT this morning with the same. And it looked real good!
My wife's '08 Town Car has silver, but, of course, it's a Lincoln.
I wonder why the Maruaders did not sport black trim all around like on FoMoCo's other performance models?

I think someone said it would have been costly to have done this...and good gracious these things were already pricey...:D

There was a post over on CVN years ago about how to do it with 3M vinyl or something like that. I may wander over and see if I can find it.

I can't find the exact thread, and i'm not sure I would be allowed to link it here anyway, but I did find a "parts list" of sort. Credit for this goes to gDMJoe on CVN.

I did mine with 3M di-noc carbon fiber. Looked ok but I took if off as I actually like the little bit of chrome. Personally I felt it made the car look cheaper.
I may do it to the fresh window trim stuff I still have in a box that will go on the car this winter, it takes time but it can come out looking good with vinyl or plastidip.

+1
Ive plastidipped mine, and tore it off minutes later. To each, their own. Ive seen trim blackout tape for sale at FLAPS before...just ask them for it and im sure they'll know.

Yeah plasti dip looked the cheapest to me. The carbon fiber vinyl looked better as it had a nice texture to it. The chrome just keeps the classiness of the car.

10-4, guys; your input is appreciated.
My take away from this is to leave it as Mercury intended it to be, and to focus on other things to fiddle around with.
Thanks,
cromer.
