Hello All,

The factory rims, are they chromed or polished with a clear? I'm asking because I would like to get my rear wheels widened to 9.5" and would like to know if the finish on the front of the wheel gets disturbed at all. Do they cut and weld on the inside of the rim, if anybody has done this can you give me an idea of how much it costs or maybe info on the process?

Thanks,
Alec

The factory wheels are polished with a clear coat, the front face of the wheel is never touched, when the wheels are widened the added material is added to the rear part of the wheels after they are cut, trued , and new material welded in.

Weldcraft in Livonia ,MI is the best at this, give them a call and ask for James.

Its been a few years since I had a set widened so im not sure what the current price + shipping is.

Yes, Weldcraft is the place to go! Me and Jerry both had wheels done last spring, awesome work!

Those guys at Weldcraft are unbelievable! Wait to you see their welds....I thought they were done by machine but they actually do them by hand and they look perfect!

It takes alot of skill to get welds like they do and they are constantly checking to make sure the wheel is true. I went their one day and watched them do it :)

Do the widened wheels require any suspension mods to fit with say 295 or 305 tires?

I did have a little bit of tire rub on my shock with 295's mounted on 9.5" wheels. It was minimal mainly in cornering. When I ran the 305 drag radials we ended up shifting the lower end of my shock over keep rubbing at a minimum. I've talked with others who never had a problem.

X2 on this, I run 305's and they rub when cornering hard...

Okay. For straight line Drag racing or everyday use, there should be no issues. What would be the recommended tire size for a 2004 with t/c? I would guess 295/45 or 305/45 (or 315/45)?

I run the 295/45/18 for everyday using Nitto 555 Extreme's. For the track I have the 305's in the drag radials.

I know the TC can have some issues with respect to tire size. My plan is to run the 255/45/18 front tires with 265 or 295 rears. Haven't totally decided about widening rims yet.

Fixed it for ya Chris.

I had rubbing (minor) with the 295s just enough to polish the paint off of the shocks during normal driving.
I ended up with 1/4" spacers to clear, the 1/4 also clears my 305 DRs.
