While slowly turning left (does not happen turning right), a metal creaking noise come from the rear. As I drive up and over a driveway entrance, the creaking changes pitch. I am guessing any number of issues could be the culprit. I am hoping the senior staff will know where best to start checking.

I have turned the car over to a local garage. I would love to guide their hunt to determine what the cause might be.

My "left turn creak" has turned into bearing replacement (outer) .
Silver is parked awaiting mecanic's TLC.
Did find out that there's a neat "Saver" part (Bearing)available at your FLAPS...Twice the price ,but 1/4 the price of a new axle....

Having an issue with mine but it's on both sides. Guessing it might be an issue with the clutches in the LSD. Bought my kit, just haven't had the time to install.

If the failure was due to the soft axle issue, where the bearing area of the axle wasn't properly heat-treated and hardened, then your bearing-saver is going to have the same failure again.

Very true, and then they are a Pain In The A$$ to remove when you have to install a new axle in the future. Happened to me on a buddys '96 Stang. Axle saver bearing broke apart trying to remove it. Had to cut it out from.the inside with a small cutting disc and air hammer. Not fun. Just a FYI, Ford axles are D99 right now. Code for Intergalactic Backorder. Parts dept has 50 on order. I have a CHP unit dead in my stall with a wiped out left rear shaft...
