My MM has been sidelined for the last 4 months for a major overhaul/mod run. All I have left is my fiberglass hood from Classglass and I'm concerned that I will run into issues with speed without hood pins. I know few people on here have them, any suggestions as to which one to get?

Secondly, the StrongArm struts for the hood that Class Glass recommends are WAYY too strong for this hood. Anyone else notice that? I can barely compress them and I weigh 250. A fiberglass hood pinned down with those will bend and/or snap, no doubt. Did I just get a bad set of shocks or does anyone know of a better set for the ClassGlass hoods?

I'm using these http://www.aerocatch.com/ Haven't decided on where to put em yet (too cold to mess with the car) but I was thinking the spot for the tabs that hold down the radiator cover

I'm here hovering over the "Buy" button on a locking Carbon Fiber Set. :D

The StrongArm struts I use have just enough hold the hood open. I can pull the hood down half way and it will just stay there. I don't have hood pins nor would I use them unless I exceeded 110 mph + daily.

The other month ago when it was really cold the struts wouldn't even hold the hood open, kept shutting on me while I was trying to do something.

About a month ago i had my stock hood close on me, pushed my face into the locking mechanism when i was looking at my radiator. Instant bloody nose, instant decision to buy new ones.

Stock hood is 62-65 lbs, fiberglass is maybe 22-24 lbs? The corner of it caught the top of my head as I was leaning in. I took mine off and have a pole to prop it up now. lol

I use the Strongarm 4142 and they are just right, i can close the hood with one finger, and no buldge in the hood. If i run hood pins in the future these are what i will use

I use aerocatch fasteners because they have been tested and tried on many different hoods and applications. It's not the cheapest solution for our cars but it works very well. What I was attempting to resolve is the constant shaking of the front of the hood causing stress on the center factory latch. Also I wanted to prevent warping of the hood. So far everything is working fine.

I am the one that came up with the 4142 lift # and has been used by most. I change mine out about every year and half since they are just able to hold when new. I do so since they are lifetime warranty ;) .I did the refrigerator hood pin design since I had #2 class glass and nothing about how it acted @ speed. Since others have installed have come up that it is not a necessary thing to do.
