View Full Version : Why do our cars condesate so much out of the tailpipes(on a cold day)?

When you start up most cars on colder mornings, they produce condensation for a couple minutes while the car warms up. The condensation stops after the car has warmed. My, and Whitey's(as well as every other Marauder I've seen) cars continue to produce condensation vapor out of our tailpipes even after the car is warm. It is not blue so oil burn is not a concern. Is it because of our Compression Ratio??:dunno: BTW I think it is awesome(looks menacing)!! Just wondering.

From what I see its most Fords that put out a lot of vapor. I'm thinking its the type of catalytic converters that Ford uses ?

There was a great big long drawn out discussion on CVN about the condensation issue a few years back, more specifically why it collects and pours out when the fun pedal it hit. If I remember right there were several theories, but it was concluded that no one really knows why, they just do it.

If the combustion process were 100% efficient, all that would be left is CO2 and water vapour. A very efficient motor will produce a lot of the latter, and the long exhaust system on the Panther allows it to cool and condense.

BINGO! We have a WINNER!

Well I can tell you it has nothing to do with converters, I have none. My car has stainless coated headers wich work in a more affective way there for the heat moves further down the exhaust system and way more steam comes out the back now then when it was stock. When in the drive ideling I can blow water up to 5 to 6 feet behind the car. So when I pull on the road and stab it! I see to long streaks until it all blows out.

This is so you can "anoint" the car behind you with Marauder Water, guaranteed to cure what makes your car slow.:D

I often wondered about this. Make a whole lot of cars disappear and back off when leaving stop signs and lights. Does add a nice touch with sound of the exhaust and steam. :burnout:
