Is there any info on adding a tranny cooler, plus do's and donts? I would like to add one plus a gauge for my a pillar. Also what's the temp range that I should be looking to stay between? Thanks in advance

Should be around 180. I run around 150 in hot weather because I have a huge cooler. My gauge goes from 100 to around 250 I think.

It's been discussed before, but so long ago it may be difficult to find the threads. Probably some where between 2006 and 2009.

I searched but I thought it was just tapatalk acting up. Any descent cooler will work? Where is the best place to add it to the system?

I stand corrected. There was a small disscusion back in July of this year.

I like most mounted mine infront and in the middle of the condenser (think that's the up front). but any where there is good air flow is ideal.
P.s. i had the tranny cooler loooong before the blower. Part of the reason my intercooler is mounted the way it is.

Here is a chart giving you some information about life expectancy of you transmission at various operating temperatures!!
Keep in mind these are AVERAGE temperatures and though you may see 200* plus at times your AVERAGE will be much lower!!

4.10 + Procharger + Alabama = HOT Trans.
I'd probably remove the factory cooler all together.
I'd suggest this: http://www.bulkpart.com/2/product/tru-cool-hd/4739.html
If you have a scanguage it can read the Trans Temp, via PCM which is internal fluid temp (hotter than pan reading)
Good thing you got the rear head mod! Good luck.

There's nothing wrong with the factory cooler. Run the new one in series with it.
I wouldn't bother with the thermal bypass either. I think my trans guy installed it wrong and led to many issues with my trans. breaking down.
And if it fails your trans will overheat in minutes and fry the clutches.

+1
Plumb the new cooler after the factory cooler, then back to the trans.

Depending on size you may be able to get away with mounting on front of intercooler. No room on top or below. There's also frame mount ones the work pretty well.

The link posted was my thread! I recommend the tranny cooler i bought and posted a link to it. Tranny temps dropped a good 20-30* with it ran in series with the stock cooler, with it just by itself(stock bypassed ) i saw no difference in temps. Get a scangauge 2 instead of a temp gauge, it tells you everything the cars doing instead of just one single parameter.

+1 on the Scangauge2. Very useful and inexpensive for monitoring things with a single unit.
