Only 3000 miles and noticing S/C oil collecting under Eaton M112 unit. No obvious tell tail signs. Has anyone experienced this previously and if so, what was the fix??

Thanks,

Only 3,000 total miles on the blower from new? If so, check the bottom of the snout, right behind the pulley. Just to make sure the front bearing seal is doing it's job. Next, I would make sure the fill plug is tight. Oil level should be up to the bottom of the plug. If you need sc oil, zzperformance.com has it. Next, I would check all the front snout bolts. Make sure they are all torqued down and crisscross the tightening.

Also after driving for awhile get into boost and then slowly take the snout plug out slowly and listen for a hissing. If you do your rotor pack bearings may be shot. Your building boost up in your snout. Bearing may need to be replaced. Also what type of oil have you used?

Also if serviced recently loctite those snout bolts

Tightening pattern needs to be top left bottom right then top right then bottom left then do the sides in an x pattern. 13-14 ft lbs on the snout bolts

Thanks much for the replies. I know that the bottom snout bolts are not accessable for me to retorque, but doesn't seem to be leaking which is a good thing. The oil I'm using is AC Delco (GM) S/C oil # 10-4041 which is what Trilogy recommended. Oil has been recently changed @ 3000 mi usage.

I did notice some residual oil behind snout pulley and wiped it clean, the drain plug is not leaking.

I will try suggested tip and take her out for a spin (boost applied) and remove drain plug to hear if any hissing noise is evident. I should remove the whole unit, but praying for miracles.. HELP!!

Thanks,

Snout bearing is bad

Happened to me on now 3 magnum power blowers for lightnings!

My rebuild guy and me have found that eaton and factory bearing have rubber shields and have since found a company who offers a metal shield to replace all of are bearings with.

If it leaking from the snout pulley you have three possibility's. Snout bearing is bad. The shaft is scratched and could be allowing oil to be passed by the bearing by going between the shaft and the bearing. Or boost is getting past the rotor packs

Do you have a interchangeable pulley set up

It's the stock Trilogy set-up. What are you thinking??

Solid pulley don't wobble

Interchangeable pulley like this one have been known to wobble and oblong the bearing

This morning boxing up this trilogy I noticed this

37030

37031

That's either a slow oil build up or belt residue meaning belt slip

This customer has to get his blower polished and I would like for him to have a good blower all the way around

Keep in mind that the Eaton blower has a 3 year warranty, with your kit number you might still be in warranty. You would have to send in the unit for repairs. Call Magnuson customer service (805-642-8833).

Hey Brett! That was belt slip. I know the history and owner of the dyno shop that does his work. Unfortunately, he would need to figure something out as far as brackets to get a tensioner pulley added for more belt wrap. I wonder if there are any slotted pulleys for the Trilogy... Very nice info, glad to have you aboard!

Racerx I know a guy who build special brackets for lightnings for belt slippage. I don't know if one could be copied I think he is into cobras a a well I would have to check

Sweet I just wanted to make Racerx. What kind of belt is he using?

Just pull the snout off, clean it all up, re-seal, and done.
